deckplate mod done?

i did the deck plate mod and ISR mod (with air raid) and it's sounds better.

acceleration response is better and climbing hills is super fun now!!!

also saw a little better MPGs :hungry:

I actually did this mod to the letter with:
a 4.5" screwout marine deckplate - under $10
Hose clamp - under $2
piece of screen - under $2
Sensor safe silicone - $4

The only thing that cost a wad was the hole cutter for my drill from LOWES - which by the way Im happy to pass on to someone else for the same purpose so we can share costs on it!

At the same time, I added the TruFlow filter and intake system getting rid of the OEM muffler resonator, and cleaned the MAF & throttle body. When I spin up the RPM it sounds very ricey to me, on a stock exhaust, but I DEFINITELY notice a power difference.

I would have liked to do the O Ring mod at the same time as well but I need a dremmel and...well...Id rather borrow one.

can someone shoot me a pm with the links to the deckplate & isr mod instructional threads? when i search for both i get like 13 pages of results so if you happen to know who wrote them up and can shoot me the link i'd much appreciate it. gonna try to get these mods done over the holiday weekend

Ive done the deckplace, ISR and O-ring mods paired with an true flow and over all its its not gonna turn heads or win races but it holds gears longer and has a much better mid power band and ive done all 4 of those for ~$50. IMO its well worth it. I did notice much larger gains when i lived at 8000ft thats for sure. Im in the process of doing a E-fan swap. hopefully it will be done tomorrow. Im Curious if this is gonna net me any more power. People say anywhere form 5-15 horses Im skeptical on 15 but i could see 5-10 for sure as it only takes 1/3 horse power to run the fan off the alt.

I haven't a clue if there are any more horses in there, but it sure sounds good at 3/4+ throttle and I get better initial response from a stop.

Except for a supercharger, I chalk up all the intake and exhaust stuff on 3rd gens to personalization of our rigs. They mostly result in small gains, but are definitely worth the hobby of it all.

That engine bay looks BEAUTIFUL!!!!

I got a used K&N FIPK off craigslist, it made a difference not just in volume, the ISR and DP mod should do the same or close anyway! All the bad press on K&N only applies if you are to lazy to maintain your vehicle (ie cleaning the MAF).

I really like how those blue hoses make the engine bay POP!!:gun6:

Just a reminder that after doing the Deckplate and ISR mods, you should reset your ECU. you can do this easily by disconnecting the battery while you're working on the airbox. That way the computer can recognize the new and improved air flow and give you the results you were expecting!
