At this point this thread has run its course, unraveled, and has become a bed of discourse.

The argument has left the original subject, which I think was very constructive (once a few posts were weeded out) but we are clearly past that.

I think it is time to request that this thread be locked. If there are any mods hanging around other than [MENTION=58830]JWaldz[/MENTION] can you please lock this.

It’s honestly crazy how much misinformation is in these threads now. Forum member’s claiming other members are working for GOBI, members claiming I work for GOBI, then claiming I’m trying to sell GOBI, people quoting the wrong post and then answering them out of context, people claiming proof of stuff that never happened or is entirely irrelevant and the list goes on.

I’ve been very upfront. I asked that I and my company remain nameless and I clearly said what my relationship with GOBI is all about. I used a good non burner gmail to sign up here that is my full name @gmail.com and said I will confirm to any mod exactly who I am if they wanted to know. That’s was done not because I need to hide, I could care less if you’ll know who I am, I did it so I wasn’t accused to trying to garner sales here. Pointless, since a mod made it all public anyway and I actually have been accused of trying to gain sales, ironic huh?

For the record, 4runner sales are not my focus, never have been I’ve sponsored exactly zero Toyota forums to date. I have never done a 4Runner GOBI group buy. Actually I've only done a single GOBI group buy and that was for Xterra racks, I don't like them and can discount to about the same price 365 days a year individually which is far less hassle. I just looked and I’ve sold about 60 4runner racks in the last 4 years compared to over 1000 Jeep JK GOBI racks. It's not that I don't like Toyota's, I happen to be an avid Jeep owner, I know Jeep stuff and do a better job of selling things I actually use myself if that makes any sense.

GOBI are suing WMW, its public information, nothing has been hidden. People keep saying GOBI should have called WMW first. I won’t be rude but that’s just not how this works and if you don’t know why you should ask a lawyer or something. GOBI feels their design and utility patents were being infringed and they are suing that company, period. Having a negative opinion about that is fine, vent away this is apparently a pretty open forum (as they should be), however, expect some push back on misinformation or veiled death threat emails.

Of course GOBI won’t answer direct questions about evidence and where the case is, no company with pending litigation shows their hand or comments directly about the case. Paul did try to toss an olive branch in the very beginning to try to get the negativity under control, probably a mistake and I’m pretty sure the next time he talks about this publicly (if ever) will on a witness stand.

One fake account does exist, it was created by a GOBI employee trying to stick up for her boss when people were calling them names. It was a mistake, GOBI owners are big boys and girls and can handle this, and they know exactly what they are doing and what the repercussions may or may not be.

I’ve been accused multiple times of avoiding answering questions. To be honest I’ve read some posts that I literally couldn’t figure out if there was an actual question or if they were just commenting. If there is something I missed feel free to ask publicly or via a PM and I’ll do my best to answer

Sorry for the long post but in summary, what exactly do you guys think hasn’t been answered? I understand some people don’t like the answers given as is always the case with these type of issues.

Your misdirection is greatly appreciated. And again if you are going to call me out for editing posts, I guess this is you calling the kettle black.

I'm certainly not a lawyer, so take this with a grain of salt and accept that we can agree to disagree in a professional way.

Actually you should call a lawyer dude. We've already had a few people speak up who claim to have a legal background and the consensus was that it is unusual for this type of lawsuit to be filed without ever contacting them directly first.

Not in my personal experience. I had a complaint filed against my company over the original name I came up with because it was really close to the name of the company that filed the complaint. It basically said change the name within 2 weeks, reply to the complaint in 5 days and laid out what would happen if I lost in court. At first I was angry/scared etc. then when I looked at it, realize it really was a due diligence problem I caused myself, they had a really good point. I complied and other than a lot of my time it really didn't cost me much. Not apples to apples, I realize that but there was no polite phone call first or anything. The reason I was given, you call to chat, the other party then files a complaint before you and you have what's technically refereed to as a cluster ****

Also the fact that Paul and Co keep referring to the LAWSUIT as a mere complaint is also dishonest. It is a lawsuit with a court date, not a complaint or something that can be solved over coffee.

It's my understanding that a lawsuit and a complaint are exactly the same thing https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lawsuit.

The impression is that Gobi went to Nuclear War with WMW over product that is vaguely similar to a patent they have. WMW makes these racks at his house so yes it looks bad the way this played out.

I thought I read somewhere that WMW moved his operation out of his garage and was renting space now? I could be wrong, so much conjecture in the threads.

Have memo look at what I changed, I removed an "and" and added a comma as I was reading what I posted.

LOL, I will edit this one: When I made that change I thought I'd got it done in that time frame where you can make a quick change without the edited tag showing. To my horror, after I hit save I saw the edited by tag. Had a feeling you would post this reply as a result #IShouldHaveDeletedItAndRepostedInstead

Just b/c he is a mod doesn't make him a God that we all have to believe in. I'm entitled to my opinion just as much as you and anyone else are. However, as I mentioned before, yet you seem to disregard, I'm not one sided into believing that this is not the truth.
