If a thread is closed, why in the world would it need to be deleted?

Im speaking of the Whitson/GOBI thread. It seems a bit off that it was deleted, especially after posts were edited to remove any foul language.

I thought it was odd too. I understand if it was locked due due to the bickering and the personal attacks and such, but to wipe the forum of its existence doesn't sit well. Especially given the accusations that Gobi was trying to have the thread removed (which I don't know if that was true or not).

I always get suspicious of manufacturers who want threads in supported forums deleted instead of addressing issues being discussed in a civil manner.

Even more suspicious is when manufacturers create multiple fake accounts on forums to make themselves look better...

The fact that it was closed bothered me... I know the reason why and let's just say they got what they wanted.

Some ****ing bullshit.

"Let's threaten everyone with legal action! That'll get us what we want!"

Even more bullshit that we can't have our First Amendment. Everything there was available through public knowledge, and the FREEDOM of Information Act.

Even more of a reason I WILL NEVER do business with the shady ass company.
ChildrenOfBodom I'd like to know the reason why it was closed and deleted please.

If the forum was threatened by legal action, hey don't have a leg to stand on, kind of like their lawsuit against Whitson.

T4R was not threatened with legal action and the thread was not removed for GOBI's sake. The thread was removed because it portrayed a very bad example of the forum and it's members. Plain and simple. The forum has rules, you all agreed to them upon registration. We are NOT here to revoke any of your amendment rights, we only ask that members follow the rules and to keep in mind that this isn't pirate4x4 forum where anything and everything goes.

On a side note.. I personally want to publicly apologize to any members (mods included) if they have found my recent actions on this forum strict, stern, harsh or concerning. These actions have only been used in the best interest of the forum and nothing other than that. I hope to never be portrayed as the bad guy. I'm only trying to make this place as friendly as possible and I know sometimes not all people will be pleased with the outcomes. This job is not easy a lot of the times.

If any members should ever have any questions about my actions or actions taken by the forum, I ask them to please contact me. I will always explain and be as helpful as possible.

So, i assume that YOU took it upon yourself to remove the thread? And CoB's response above denotes that you did this on your own without really discussing it with the other mods and ADMIN?

This bothers me...... I'd like to know why this was allowed to happen, as that thread should've remained open; or at the very least, just locked so that we could still go back and reference it. The fact that it was locked and then removed from the public view is troublesome to say the least

Why though? At most you should've just removed the members who were bickering with each other to keep in on track, as there was some legitimate conversation going on between several members and others were voicing some real concerns and reasons why this whole thing doesn't sit well with them. By removing it, you did try to pull our rights from us. I get that the forum has rules that we all agreed to, but that's why you should've just removed the posts with the personal attacks on members and left the thread open. That's just my opinion though.......

The banter could have been removed. IMO, that thread had some good information on Gobi, seriously good information.

Honestly, I feel like these two takes on what happened are conflicting.

I read the thread all the way through...and outside a couple, literally couple, posts it was very cordial. Sure it had a few bickering, but surely that can't be against the rules??

More importantly it exposed intentions of 3 "new members", ironically all from GOBI's internet connection. This thread is important because it truly showed the character of the players in this law suit...we all saw Whitson Metalworks responses and in major contrast GOBI's. How is this not information T4R.org wants out on the interweb for the sake of its good standing members? <---i.e WMW.

Instead, seemingly, take the side of GOBI after clearly using this site, with no valuable input to try and justify their poor actions????

The claim as to why it was removed is a PC statement at best.

GOBI were the ones to start trolling this site, abusing its policies, and stirring the pot and instead of letting their actions shine and be delt with by mods, we get blamed for the ban not these "new members."...gotta do better than that.

Very unfortunate JWaldz. The thread was filled with great information. Its saddening to see the this type of action on this forum. A better form of censorship could have been taken, rather than delete all the good info. I never would have suspected this of T4R. I'll question my membership and recommendation to this forum now.

You shouldn't need to worry about that...the members make this site what it is not the mods. The information compiled here is far to valuable to write it off. Again remember, the members (good members) have supplied the site with its value.
