Like a previous member, I'm interested in minimizing the damage in a "oh shit" moment overlanding. I have no real plans to hard core rock crawl and beat the bumper/vehicle.

You would definitely have a buyer here but I echo the "no-cut" feature. I have a 2012 4runner looking to kill two birds with one stone and refresh the front end with the newer headlights while adding a winch bumper. Sourcing a bumper cover just to slice it up isn't appealing. Right now my only option is Pelfreybilt and im not so hot on that style.

I'd be interested in one for 10-13. There's a few bumpers out there that I'm very interested in, but weight and cutting the front cover have been a hold up for me. Depending on the cost of bumper, it would definitely be on my list. Hoping that a bumper will be my next add.

JD, could you comment on the concept of "crush cans/crumple zones" and optimal compatibility with airbags? Specifically, preventing them from deploying inappropriately in a low speed collision.

There is also 4x4 Labs that is a no-cut option. But this AL bumper is really appealing :thumb3:

Cost, looks, strength, weight, ground clearance, functionality (high-lift points, shackle points, light mounts, etc.) and winch access are all factors. Everybody puts different weights on each factor. So far no manufacturer has hit all the points for me. Some excel in some aspects but flunk others.

The biggest problem I see with your 5th Gen 4Runner bumpers is winch access. Clearing a snarl by reaching in through those holes in the side would be a huge pain, IMO. Note that I've only seen pictures and never in real life.

Although I do like the bumper, I will say the winch access is certainly lacking. I had more problems just getting the winch installed since there's not a lot of space in that area to work with. I thought the cables and the box were hard to relocate, but maybe some other people had an easier time with it. Reaching in and turning the knob to engage the line is awkward as well.
