Demello REAR Bumper Possibility

Yeah the guy sounds great at Relentless Fab who I talked with. Just don't know how I feel about the pre-runner tubed look on their front bumpers.

If you look around their websites (there are two), there are some sample bumpers -- some are tube style (not to my liking either) and some are plate style, which is what I'm going with.

The rear bumper I'm getting is basically like the one on the tan 4Runner here:

The front is going to be basically like the one on the front of the Tacoma here, but I'm not getting any upper tubing around the grille or headlights:

Will the bumper you are getting have a swing-out tire carrier on it?

No tire carrier on mine -- don't want or need it. I'm using 255/75/17 tires, which fit in the factory spare tire location; no plans to go any taller, ever. Might try 265/70/17 for the next set, but those will fit in the factory spare location too.

I found it impossible to get ahold of anyone there. Sent multiple emails, several VM's and numerous forum posts/even more PM's. Not someone I'd do business with.

It's about a 4-6 production time for the bumpers and then shipping. Keep in mind because of the weight it is shipped as freight, which will cost $200 to get it to a residence.

If it is okay with the Moderators I was going to bump this thread occasionaly to hopefully get new/fresh eyes on it and to get a better feel and more peoples opinions on this, but mainly more votes?

Thank you for the interest, we could do a prototype first to see if there is any interest.

A modular set up would be best for us as well. The biggest obstacle with a rear tire carrier/bumper is cost. On something that has so much material and so little production runs the cost would be higher than say a jeep bumper. Which is what everyone looks at when they price out a toyota swing out bumper.

My question would be what would be a fair price for a rear bumper and then a fair price for a swing out rear bumper.

Please feel free to post up what others are charging for the 4runner bumpers that are out there.

I can tell you we do custom Tacoma bumpers all the time, we've limited our selves to only using high end hinges and latch systems. We've tried a lot that's out there and it's just not worth it to go cheap on something like that. But it raises the cost as well.

Would it be rude of me to pitch $1000 for just a bumper? I figured maybe reasonable and priced below the competition would help jump start sales and take away sales from other companies. And then for accessories like swingouts, jerry can holders I would price accordingly, maybe a little more then production costs and that would put you right under the final pricing on a loaded CBI? Or maybe give a discount if they order all the accessories at once? Again this is coming from someone with no fab work done in my life and looking for a better looking bumper than CBI while maybe saving some change.

I know Crozhawk is at the Demello shop right now per his 120 build thread. Y'all should consider a design that is similar to his as so many people tend to want his bumper.

do you know whose bumper that top is? that's the sleekest i've ever seen on a 4R before, definitely my favorite! Really dislike the sluggish, dragging look of the CBIs

I have a 5th Gen 4x4 Labs rear and it is smooth sided like you are stating.

I am sure you can talk to Luke and he could do a 4th Gen with smooth sides.

And the things are SOLID!

I have one of the 3-loop Demello bumpers on my '06 4R, and would LOVE to have a similarly-styled rear plate bumper to match! Would love to have the rear tire carrier and hi-lift jack mount, and maybe a 1- or 2-jerry can mount. One requirement, though, would be that the factory Class III tow hitch would have to be retained (or a Class III hitch built-in in the bumper), as I tow a 5000-lb. trailer with my 4R.

I also like the thinner look, like in the first-of-the-pair (tan or white) pictures above.

damn, I would have to order one. My wallet is already hurting just thinking about it. Love my Demello front bumper and I get compliments on it all the time. Not a lot of Demello stuff running around out here in GA.
