Denso O2 Sensor help!

I have extensively searched but have not found a concrete answer so far. I have been using t4r.org for 6+ years and never posted until now. I promise I tried to find an answer.

I am trying to replace my o2 sensors. I have a 1999 SR5, auto, 4wd. From what I have read it sounds like it should have 1 cat.

When I look under the vehicle it appears I may have 2 cats? Based off threads I have found I do have 2.




Here is my sticker under the hood.




Based off the SFI, HO2S(2), TWC i should have (2) O2 sensors correct? Not (1) O2 and (1) A/F like cali models?


I need help figuring out which Denso part#s I need to order. I ordered (2) 234-4162 which I found searching via Denso's website. It appears that it may work for the upstream sensor though the wire is shorter than what I have on there now (replaced it a few years ago). It has Denso part# 192400-8010. Not sure how I found a few years ago but the plug worked and wire length seems good. Advanced Auto might have given me that part# back then.


The rear however is way too short with the 234-4162. Mine has the little extension to support the extra long length wire. The harness it plugs into attached to the trans has no extra length to get the connector closer to the sensor.




I read that I would need the 234-4153 but it is also too short. On RockAuto it says the length of wire is 17" but the one I received from Amazon is only 3 or 4" long.

I checked my go to stealerships part store by searching via the vin (JT3HN86R0X0209858) but it lists 4 o2 sensors.


Can anyone give me some guidance on what I should order for the front and rear? I am totally lost. Thank you.

234-9002 is your upstream O2. 234-4153 is your downstream A/F. I'm assuming you got the wrong A/F because the lead is definitely way, way longer than 3-4".
Yes, you have Cali emissions. If I'm not mistaken only Cali emissions had an O2+A/F combo, others used double O2 sensors. 234-4162 is for 2WD vehicles with federal emissions

The truck was originally sold by a local dealership here in Upstate South Carolina. Has lived it's whole life here. Part of my confusion was that I didn't think it would have been a cali emissions vehicle. The "Fed & Canada" bit under the hood made me think it was definitely a non-cali model. Then I started reading about how some 1999 models started to come with 2 cats for federal emissions and it started getting confusing.

I ordered another 234-4153 from Rockauto this time. Their description does list it as having a long ass wire. I do not know what the one I received from Amazon is but it does not have a 17" wire.

When in doubt,
Plug in your rig’s info, find any Denso p/n you need. Then order from whatever source, I.e. Amazon, RockAuto, etc.

Not a problem. I was in your very same shoes a year ago and ordered every single wrong sensor before getting the right ones (also V6 4WD with cali emissions, etc.). I'm kinda curious what you got too because the majority of the other options have different keyways on their plugs, so they don't even fit unless in the right vehicle. Maybe just strange luck
