Dent help

I'm a bit OCD about door dings as well as my car. I've had holes drill several times for dings and I'd do it again in a minute for a ding like that.

They put a plug with some silicone where the drill and you only see it when you open the door.

That's the only chance you have at fixing that.

Dude, I would definitely let them go ahead and drill a small hole in the door jam, which should let the PDR shop fix the dent with ease...

I would then fill in the hole maybe with a little dab of JB Weld or something, let it dry, and then just touch it up w/ silver touch-up paint.

I hate exterior dents like that as well, but I would forget about a door jam touch up in no time...

I agree with drilling a hole. I'm a dent guy in Colorado and drill holes all the time , it doesn't void any warranty if drilled correctly. The little rubber plug looks like factory plugs anyway. Also, there mite be a possibility of drilling behind the plastic on the pillar. So painting it in any way will decrease value.

And for all those comments about hot water and dry ice none of that works, ever, don't try it

Well just for shits and giggles I tried hitting it with a heat gun on low and then a duster spray bottle inverted. Did it 3 or 4 times. As expected I don't see much if any difference. I tried to move the heat gun back and forth 2-3" to keep it from overheating the paint. Last thing I need is to make it worse. I think it's ok, but oddly enough the dent almost seemed less noticeable after the heat and before the cold. I didn't see paint bubble or anything so I guess I'm good. I did notice a hairline scratch in the clear coat after though. Seemed to buff out ok with Scratch X so I don't think it's a crack in the paint/clear. Still undecided what to do with it, if anything.

Haha...now you tell me. Man I hope I didn't mess anything up worse. Ugh.

Sometimes a dent....... is just a dent.

There will probably be many more, I would just get over it and move on.

I am a pretty anal retentive dude, but I've come to grips with the fact that, if you drive your vehicle, it's going to get dinged/scratched. Bugs, rocks, tree limbs, idiots, etc. are going to get ya eventually. It's a battle scar of living. My suggestion is to not waste any more time or money and let it go.

Good advice. That's what I'm trying to do. I'll also decided to keep it and deal with the issues. Not gonna trade it for a Jeep...although maybe I get one in addition to the 4R. Haha

When it rains it pours...found a couple ripple dents on the hood like someone rested their knuckles there or something. Oh well, time to stop fretting and move on I guess
