I'm a bit OCD about door dings as well as my car. I've had holes drill several times for dings and I'd do it again in a minute for a ding like that.
They put a plug with some silicone where the drill and you only see it when you open the door.
That's the only chance you have at fixing that.
Dude, I would definitely let them go ahead and drill a small hole in the door jam, which should let the PDR shop fix the dent with ease...
I would then fill in the hole maybe with a little dab of JB Weld or something, let it dry, and then just touch it up w/ silver touch-up paint.
I hate exterior dents like that as well, but I would forget about a door jam touch up in no time...
