Denver Offroad making bumpers again. pics of new setup.....

Hey,

So I'm putting my order in for Denver Offroad bumper. He said I could have it built any of the following three ways, so I PS some together.. Keep in mind this Aircraft Aluminum...so with a winch, total weight should be around 100lbs. And more durable, and last longer than (10) ARB bumpers... nough said.. $1500, including powder coating, any setup....

If you are looking for comments, then I like the middle one the most. I prefer the rectangular stinger hoops rather than the ones that are rounded at the bottom. I definitely don't like the top one. Just looks funny to me and I can't understand the benefit of the stinger set up that way.

Yea I'd probably go for the middle one as well...but it would also look sweet without any of the hoops. It looks like the stinger is bolt on, that pretty cool too.

Pricing is not bad, aluminum is freaking expensive

I see most people like the first for running in the sand,, not sure why... I love the middle cause the bulldog pushbar mixed with the bumper is stout. I had the push bar on a 71 Blazer, and it took down a cow. And that's what I want something that can take a deer, or elk down....:boxer:

The rest kinda look like they belong on police interceptor or a 80's pickup. Not my style, but im sure theres a market.

What is the reason for the tube hoops on the bumper? Do they serve any real purpose?

Do you have contact information for this company? I would like to know who you are talking to.

I want to go with a aluminum bumper and Aluminus is the only other one I have come across.

This design is ok. I would rather not have the bolt/ rivet heads showingon the front and would like a couple of anchor points.

Thepoint of the second hoop I feel is mainly extra protection for the headlight and side blinker, more or less a brushguard... Denver Off Road

I would like to see how these bumpers are put together on the backside. Seems to me aluminum would need a lot of bracing to hold up to repeated impacts (or a big impact). IMO, all the hoop/bull bar combinations are ugly. I would just get a plain bumper and hope I don't hit a deer.

I have to double check, but this isn't normal Aluminum, It's aircraft rated. Bench test strength shows that it is something like double the strength of 1/2 inch steal, or something like that....lol I want to call it the terminator bumper...:50cal: I've decided to go with the second from the very top, and add a one D-ring right in the middle where the license plate would go....

I purchased a stinger with side hoops for my 4Runner to protect the lights while on trails. Unfortunately, this was one of 4xInnovations first bumpers so I think there may have been a miscalculation or miscommunication in the ordering / design process. The stinger is there, and it does protect the light, but it's not out wide enough for me to replace a light without taking off the entire bumper. Be aware of that.....

I am not an engineer so I cant give you details but
I work for a company that builds pilot/ co-pilot seats out of aluminum. the seats are dynamic tested at 16g under load and no load and with warped flooring. That aluminum will hold as long as the design is solid.

I have no concern with the durability of using aircraft grade aluminum for a bumper.

Yes Very happy with it... I know it can take a deer, maybe an elk down. And is easy to adjust if I do a body lift...
Only thing I may do is weld on a piece that extends behind the body mount..

It took about a month to make, but I told him to take his time since I was still in Afghanistan, at the time. So to answer your question he makes them when you send him the money.

Can you provide some details on the material, like what alloy of aluminum, any heat treatment, etc... The claim that it is "double the strength of 1/2in steel" doesn't make sense on several levels.

Also, there is no "aircraft rating" for aluminum. Certain alloys are popular in the aircraft industry, but they aren't necessarily super strong. 7075 is very strong, but relatively heavy and expensive, and it rusts like steel. 6061 is light with moderate strength, but is the most common type of aluminum out there, not something special. I think the aluminum rods and stuff sold at home depot are 6061, certainly not a special "aircraft rated" material.

Any product demonstrations of the bumper getting thrashed? Al isn't as hard as steel, so is going to gouge easier. Also, you can pound out sheet steel alot more than you can pound out aluminum because the equivalent strength steel is much thinner walled. Plus steel is more easily welded for repair.
