It was green, however, I think the terminals on the wire were the problem, because there were tons of corrosion on the connectors. However, maybe it could be both...

I think you are correct with the corrosion thing. I had this happen on a Tahoe where the contacts were corroded pretty bad and the truck would not start. Replaced the starter and still had the problem. Found out about the corrosion thing and all was dandy after that!

Haha well, it happened again today. I got it jump started and went to the Walmart here to get a new battery. I hope it fixes the problem.. Thanks for the suggestions everyone

my first 6 years of teaching in order to help pay the bills I also worked as a part time Parts Sales Manager, got all my ASE certification, etc.

My experience with the green light................is it is about 50% accurate. Several times performing a load test would end up in a battery needing replacing.

But like some of you, corrosion is normally the culprit of battery problems, unless that is your are in the 5 year window.

on a side note, I had an older gentleman that lived near the store that was so paranoid of getting stranded by a battery he would replace it yearly. Even after I tried 2 years in a row to get him to reconsider ............he routinely until I left replaced them in both his car............people and their money!

If non-4Runner people were reading our posts and read about how we are disappointed not getting snow, they would think we were little kids or crazy!

I am seeing posts much like the ones in this thread in another (non-Toyota) Mid-Sized SUV forum I visit occassionaly.
The members in that forum who live in the Dever area are having the same type of experiences with their SUVs as the 4Runner owners here.
The members not in that area are experiencing the same "Snow Withdrawal" people here (myself included) are suffering from as well.

Be sure to clean the contacts again on the inside before installing the new battery. If possible, put a coat of grease over the terminals to prevent corrosion.

Your problems with having to get a jump start -- one of the best investments we ever made was to buy one of the jump batteries from Sears (they are at lots of other places, too) for about $60. It's a 12V battery in a self-contained unit. Charge it initially, then once every 3 months. Keep it in the vehicle -- if you need a jump, it's ready. And if someone else needs a jump, you can provide it without any possible damage to your car.
