detailed my friends car the other weekend

she has a Volvo S40 and it took a lot of clay barring to smooth it out. overall im pretty pleased with it.

Like what supplies would I need? and how long is the process?

its usually a kit. meguiars sells it and it comes with a bar that feels like clay and quick detailer. worked together it removes contaminants and junk from the surface. basically you spray the car constantly to keep it wet and you use the clay bar to rub the pieces out.

for example on her car the stupid dealerships out here always put their name all over the place so she had a sticker on the trunk. the sticker had been sitting on her car for 2yrs now and so after i removed it it left a sticky residue. i used the clay bar and it removed all of the left over residue w/o damaging the paint. that process took about 30-40mins.

The Volvo looks good. What products did you use? Did you polish it out? What wax or sealent did you use?

I only use meguiars stuff so for this car I did the clay bar to smooth it out I then used a paint cleaner for light scratches and swirl marks then did a polish to make it shine. I topped it off w a glaze. I also waxed the windows w a cleaner wax. Her car was somewhat neglected it hadn't received a decent wax job in 2+ years now it looks like it came from the showroom.

looks really nice. I have never used clay bar before, bit after seeing thersults iI think I will give it a try. I'll do my work car first, so i can learn how to do it.
