device to store custom settings?

OK so the customisable settings of 5th Gen T4R's is pretty cool, like disabling the annoying seatbelt chimes, and open all windows and sunroof at once from key fob, also auto lock doors at 10 mph or so and many more, but my service tech that made the changes for me said "you know if you ever disconnect battery they are lost right?". Which really sucks. I thought the system would have flash memory but based on that it does not. So my question is, are there any good devices like upper end code scanners to actually store and resend your data after a battery disconnect? And/or better yet allow reading and making changes without having to go back to the dealer for them?

i don't believe that's true. my seatbelt chime was disabled by the dealer and my battery has been disconnected for hours and it still works fine.

You won't loose any information. Those settings are permanent once flashed no matter power loss or whatever, until it's updated.

Frustrating

Frustrating! Why then did the tech tell me all of the customized settings would disappear and revert back to factory if a battery disconnect ever occurred.

Good news though now I can do it with out fear of losing my customizations.

Thanks guys, as usual

what would be the way?

If I did want to read and change the customisable settings with a unit what do I get and do I use ?

My information is not "loose." If it were "loose" I'd lose it.

You need a Toyota TechStream. Available as a 3 day license (for your notebook pc, compatible CAN/OBDII reader required) or 1 year (either bring-your-own-gear or a system Toyota will sell you).
