so I took my runner to a 4x4 specialty shop in Rock Springs, GA called Spicer's Off Road, to have a few issues fixed with it that I just couldnt find time to fix myself or I wouldve. It had a very...very bad vibration in it from 5mph on up. It got so bad that I didnt even wanna drive it cause it would beat you to death, so I was just driving my F150 all the time. I dropped it off last Friday and they actually got to it and gave me a call with the diagnosis that evening. Turns out at that point I needed both driveshaft u-joints, a new yoke, and a couple seals on the transfer case. All of which was gonna cost me $482 with parts and labor. I told them to go ahead and fix it cause I was ok with that. Well yesterday morning I get a call from him telling me Im gonna need a new driveshaft as well. He said they were replacing the U joints and noticed how bad of shape the driveshaft was in. He said I could get by with it, but if I wanted to completely erase any posibility of vibration that he recommended to replace it cause to him it looked like the old driveshaft couldve been a culprit in my vibration issues as well. He said they would replace it with a "heavy duty" driveshaft (rear driveshaft btw) that also needed to be a touch longer than the other one (stock) due to the lift. so now with all the previous parts and labor I listed above, + a new "heavy duty" custom length driveshaft, im sitting at about 900 bucks. Does this sound about right to you guys? Its been a lonngggg time since Ive taken one of my vehicles to a shop to get worked on, but I just couldnt find time to crawl underneath it this time and fix it myself, due to work and traveling. Spicer's has a good reputation around here, and are a 4x4 specialty shop, so thats why I chose them to work on it. Plus the guy Im guessing is the manager there is really nice and helpful. But at the same time Ive never bought a new driveshaft and was curious as to if it sounds like Im being treated fairly. Thanks for reading
