Dont worry, my 83 year old grandmother always calls my 4runner a van, I just let it slide and blame it on her age lol

I prefer to call my 4runner a truck, but I also have a truck, so when I say "let's take my truck" or "my truck needs an oil change" my wife never really knows which one I'm referring to, and I can't bring myself to call it "my SUV". My wife drives a car, so I can't call it that. Who else finds themselves in this predicament? Maybe I just need to give it a proper name, like I would a son or daughter? Floyd......faithful Floyd! Lol

I'm sorry to have to inform you of this, but people are idiots. I know, it is a sad truth, but a truth all the same.
When I first read the post, I wondered what country must he be from? Since calling SUVs "Jeeps" is like calling a skid steerer a Bobcat.

I always end up calling my 4Runner a truck... its just much easier to say. Hell the damned thing i built on a truck frame with mostly truck parts... its a truck... the first gen 4Runner was a truck with a removable rear... how is a SUV much different other than our campershells aren't removable...

i call it a truck too. much easier than SUV. and def not a car.
but everyone around me also knows ive named her *******so ...i just say lets take *******or Brit or gawd dam *******is sexay

Actually before my T4R I drove an '05 RAV4 (quick little thing, and I mean LITTLE) and the guys at STS Tire were calling it a truck, cracked me up :thumb3: And the funny thing is they weren't the only people that called it that

I here you, all the older people call it a van. The mother said my brothers girl friend just bought a new red van, she also had know idea what make it was or really the make of any car except Mercedes which she had and totaled. It was a new highlander by the way. :nono:

AMEN...Preach it brotha...I have a tendancy to call it a truck to and I get those people that adamantly disagree and try to correct me...half the time I save my breath and the time required to explain thee above to them...and that my TRUCK can go places theirs cant hehehee
But in the case of mistaken identity I never fail to correct...
I have a hard time calling it a truck since my last "truck" for the past 8 years has had a 7.3 diesel in it, leaf springs and drives/rides like a brick. Not to mention it tows 10K lbs and I can put a yard of stone in it..
I agree my 4runner is a rugged rig but I have a hard time calling it a truck.

Mine goes by "The Runner". but I'd say more a truck than a car or van.
For instance:
Me " Hey lets go get some take out"
Wife "Ok, we takin The Runner?"
Me "Heck yea I love that thing. We'll take it out ont he beach while were out"
Wife "Cool lets go"
The Runner makes for some good times.

True, I average between 23-24mpg combined in my day to day driving! My last siverado 07' 6.0 got 15.
Depends if it is a desiel. Done right 20-22 mph is possible. Mine was 18 most of the time and 16 with a trailer. I borrowed some bigger tires for a bit and got 20.
My 4TR is 21ish normally and 15 with trailer.

I'm in the same position. I have a work truck (truck I drive for work) and the T4R is my personal vehicle, so we've just named the vehicles to avoid confusion
4Runner: Dusty
Work Truck: Hank
Wife's Accord: Frank

+1. In Russia, for instance, the first suv we've seen number of years ago was Jeep Grand Cherokee. Since that time all suvs we call "jeep". Even myself (living in Canada), when I talk about suvs with my wife we call them jeep because of bodystyle.

The opposite situation with TRUCK. To me, truck is something like tractor-trailer. I cannot force myself to call 4Runner-truck. I always say-suv or vehicle.
