Tidy this thread up a bit....

2015 Trail Edition Premium with KDSS. Bought from dealer with TRD Pro Wheels and Nitto TG G2.

So yes, I got pretty beat up on the price.....so let's not talk about it. My 2 cents for anybody on "negotiating" with a dealer is very easy. Once you're down to the final deal and they counter, simply say that you understand Toyota will be sending a survey in a few weeks about your buying experience and the only way that you'll put all "10s" is if they stop the non-sense and accept your offer.

Here's the new beast a few days after pick-up....800 miles on it and already had to get it dirty. In the background...is Mosquito Pass. Went 1/2 way up, yet the snowpack was a concern, so turned around and cracked out the manual on how to use the crawl control. Can't really say I enjoyed it....yet was kinda cool as that trail is uber rocky. Might need to do more homework on the application.

TRD Pro Wheels / Nitto TGs were part of the purchase (more on that later).

I had NO IDEA the TRD Wheels were 7" until reading up on some threads. Total bummer as the plan is to go 285s. My tire guys is totally fine with it and says things will be alright...yet I don't wanna toss away money longer term. Plus, I prefer to get gloss/satin black wheels that are more easily cleanable. The TRD Pros have already been an issue collecting mud.

Read 1,000s of threads on wheels and still a bit unclear on the best measurement for wheels. On my 2008, I had stock wheels with Spidertracs which were troublefree. Since I'm ordering wheels, I'm leaning towards a 17x9 with 0MM offset. I'm hoping that fills out the fender a bit better...we'll see.

As this point, I'm going with Hostile Moab 6.

Good comment. Think that's been hashed out pretty good. For me, it's several things.

33% - I don't "love" the TRD Wheels. Pain in the ass to clean and matte black looks a lil goofy with the Attitude Black. Nit picky...yet a real black 4Runner would look great with matte black wheels. Photos aren't telling the whole story. I prefer a satin or gloss black wheel with the Attitude Black. Aren't many option out there to be honest. I wanted the XD Series Rockstar and was going to hydro-dip or paint gloss, yet that doubled the price of the wheel.

33% - I want a wide wheel/stance/footprint. The TRD's have a nice stance with the +4mm offset, yet the Hostile 9" have 0mm with ample backspace clearance. Then again, I sure hope I did my math correctly. If the Hostile's are posing a problem (not going to do any chopping), then I'll go back to the TRD Pros. With a stock wheel, I'd probably run a spacer, yet not with the TRD and obviously not with a 9" and 0 offset. Correct me if I'm wrong about my math.

33% - Yep, I'll admit it...the 1/2" spec thing is a consideration, yet a mild one. My tire guy (who has been at it for 45 years and an avid offroader is perfectly fine about it. He's trying to talk me out of a new wheel. Yet, the realist in me "thinks" I'll have some center wear issues on an AT tires (Still haven't chosen b/w the BFG KO2 or the Duratrac), so that's enough combined with the above. It's not a safety concern, it's a tire wear concern. Nothing some money won't solve, right? hahaha

your last 33.3% (repeating of course) is the only one that really matters to the conversation, the other two are preference.

a 10.5" wide tire will have 0 wear issues with a 7" wide wheel.

Then what issue would it have which warrants a tire engineer putting the spec at 7.5" rather than 7"?

They don't change the recommended rim widths with the increase in tire diameter. The increase in sidewall size is a huge contributing factor into why the 7" wide wheels will work without fault on a 10.5" wide tire.

A 30" tall tire will experience rounding of the tread, where as the 33" tall tire will not.

I got it...you don't have the full tire size. 285/70r/17. Shocker!

Same question applies. Why does a tire manufacturer list via rim width?

Why even write about the 7" width? You want a wider "stance" whatever that means and you want a different look and finish. Buy 'em. Any off roader will tell you that a narrower wheel within reason will hold a bead better when aired down.

you don't need to air down only for rock crawling

[MENTION=117606]BeachRunnerSD[/MENTION] just mounted 33" red letter Grabbers on those exact TRD rims. Looks perfectly fine to me and should have monster grip when aired down...

if he can fit a 12.5 section tire, a 285 should be a cake walk....

It's slow moving over here with the upgrades. The receiving department is getting products in faster than the service department can install them!

This week was 3M vinyl wrap on the roof rack. First time doing any wrapping and was pretty straight forward....just need patience. Turned out a bit better than I expected.

Next up is the lift or front/rear bumper covers. We'll see.

The entire roof to catch the sludge off of the Gobi or to wrap parts of the rack itself?

Wheels came in yesterday and lifted today!

Came out nice. Slight rubbing on the mudflaps which I'll dremel tonight. Appears the front is fine after a few alignments/drives around the block. I'll assess the liner/bumper tomorrow. Can't hear any rubbing, but would help to have a 2nd eye on the action outside the truck.

Per the photos...went with a last min decision for the KO2 over the Duratracs. I'll be able to give a nice assessment of both in a month or so (as my old 4Runner had DuraTracs).
