diff drop?

Im about to install my toytec lift (spacer in front superflex in rear). i have a diff drop that im going to install too. My question is does to diff drop add any lift to the truck too? Im keeping the 265/65/17s till i can afford new tires so i just dont want it to look any more weird.

Diff drop won't add any lift. It is pointless to have one, I would not waste my time installing it. Also it adds the problem of having to mess around to get your skids to fit afterwards.

So dont worry about it? i go it for free. Im just worried about the CV angles with my full time 4WD.

From everything that I've read on here, it is pointless to install the diff drop. It definitely does not add any more lift to your truck. Your CVs should be fine.

It will not add lift, but INSTALL it! they make them for a reason!, if you didnt need/want a diff drop on the 4th gen runner, they wouldnt make them then! it drops the angles of your CV's about 1" extending the life of those important expensive little things! . It literally takes about 5min to do and will save you in the long run :hatsoff:

If you want to put it on, go for it, but it is definitely not necessary.

I have put 69k miles on my truck so far, many many thousands of which were off road (64k of the 69k were lifted), and I have had no issues that a diff drop would have helped with. For me, the con of having to lower your skid plate outweighs any small benefit the drop may have.

From the almost dozen rigs I saw on our Holister trip and my own vehicle after I installed the OLW lift, I do not see a reason to add a differential drop.

These CV Boots leak even without being lifted and seem to tear on the inboard boot's small clamp regardless of stock or lifted. The CV angle does not drastically increase when you lift the vehicle (Though most of the lifts I have seen incorperate new UCA's which also adjust the geometry of the upper & lower control arms to be more parallel from what I have noticed, so this may not be true of lifts without them) and I myself decided that the 1" of lost clearance from the drop would not be worth the gain.

A Differential Drop Kit will not lift your vehicle at all, in fact it for most intents and purposes lowers the vehicle an 1" or however much the drop is. This is because when we lift our vehicles and try to get more clearance on our lowest part, whch is almost always going to be the differential case.

Nope. I did put it on for about a week but I didnt like that I needed fit the skids to it so I took it off and sold it. Im building my own skids and ive designed the extra 1 inch drop into it just incase I wanted to add one later. Honestly you dont need it. If you have aftermarket skids it might be worth it. Ive put about 40k on the truck since this original post and its been fine.
