Differential Drop - 2nd gen 4x4 manual

So my Cv axles are at a huge angle and a mechanic recommended i drop my differential to even everything out. do you guys have opinions on drop kits or whatever i need? I'm new to the wrenching and workin on trucks.

You should be able to find everything you need to know about these in the lift sticky thread. I'd try that quick and see if you still have any questions afterwards.
 
How much lift is on the truck? If it's 3" then 3" is about what you want for the drop Etc. you want to try and maintain stock geometry as much as possible. Unless you are doing something super cool like long travel suspension. And then that's just totally different.

Yeah it's 3' exactly on the front so 3 inch it is. Thanks!

I found some people talking about drops but no tips on which one i should do for the 92' . i have a 3' lift and i keep seeing people that just buy a 1 inch kit and that seems to be fine.
 
You shouldn't need any more than 1". Once you go over 2" that's when you need to get the diff drop so 1" would bring it back into acceptable angles for the cvs. If you go more you should get some extended cv axles.

You should be able to piece together something like that. Just make sure that the hardware is hardened. Also if you have a skid plate make sure to account for the drop there too.

You wont be dropping the differential 3 inches. Just buy one of the 20 dollar kits thst come with two spacers and two bolts. This will swing the diff down and forward a bit, about an inch of "dropping". Get it on Amazon, it will be a toyota IFS 86-95 differential drop kit. Cheap and easy.

You have a second gen so consider getting some manual locking hubs so you can keep the front CVs from spinning and wearing out with daily driving. Thats the best thing you can do by far.

That is about all you can do. It will be a great help for longevity. Keep your hubs unlocked so you dont wear your cvs.

Good stuff man. Yeah i have front hub lockers on my wheels now. Ill check out the amazon kits and see if i can find one on there
