Digging into the 22RE

I always knew I wanted to do a swap when this motor gave out, but I expected that to be 10 years from now, you know?

Don't feel too bad, Kev--I got one whopping week out of my 3.0 before it croaked! I also had no immediate plans for swapping...oh well.

Oh i know. When mine went through the block it actually knocked out the pieces and did dump oil everywhere. looked like james bond with all the smoke. Im about to drop a 5.0 in with a NW offroad bellhousing adapter. I should start a build thread soon. BTW Ive driven an 85 with a 3rz swapped in and it was really sweet. Something to think about.

For the record, that kit from NWOR is simply an Advance Adapters kit, complete with the AA logo on the instruction sheet, in case you want to price shop (NWOR can be expensive). I bought their GM kit, but I doubt it's any different for the Ford kit (who makes it--not the part, which will obviously be different). I also had some issues with the wrong hardware with some NWOR items, and the grumpy old man that runs the place basically just insinuated that I was either mistaken or lying. They have good stuff, but be wary, and check everything over when you get it.

LOL you Have dealt with them. Jerks, but as far as I know they have a deal to have the 302 bellhousings made by AA exclusively for them. I would not deal with them if there was a way to buy the bellhousing from anybody else. You are right though check everything when it comes.

NOOOO! Google that rebuilder. I don't know much but I've heard a lot of bad things about them. They offer a generous guarantee but never honor it. And their craftsmanship is poor. Sorry if he's your friend.

Engine Bldrs kits off eBay are supposed to be good and for entire engines there's a place called Sunwest Specialties or something like that and there's others.

Really? They rebuilt my buddies 5.0 and he hasn't had a problem. I have no affiliation with them at all. Then again there is a good and a bad to any shop.
I know team yota is fairly reputable around the NW area but their prices are steep IMO.

I've never bought from Northwest. I've called them a couple times, and their prices and the attitude I got over the phone pretty much ensure I won't call them again.
