Digits on speed indicator - darker on the lower half?

So I picked up my 2020 TRD Premium yesterday. When I was driving it, I noticed that when I have the center display set to show the speed, the lower half of each digit is a shade or two darker than the top half.

This seems weird but I don’t know if it’s normal or not. Any comments?

Well it looks like this is normal. I went back to the dealer and they said that was sort of wierd so we grabbed a bunch of keys and headed out to the lot. All of the other vehicles were the same way.

So that’s that.

Yep that's normal. It makes the numbers look 3D.

Good to know. I know enough about these types of displays to know that they should not fail in the manner I observed, but my lack of knowledge, along with my inability to understand why Toyota would configure the display as such had me thinking I was missing something and that I was in for a major surgery to replace the instrument cluster!!

Very normal with the new 2020s. All of the ones I have test driven have this effect.
