For the most part yes, the cage did its job and the damage was minimal. The passenger side of the windshield broke/shattered due to the cage sinking in the the snow, and the passenger side mirror broke. The doors and roof have some more "character" but nothing horrible.

Nope. My camera bag was on the passenger seat, when I went over it ended up in a pile in the snow (the passenger side window was down). Once I got out of the truck my first thought was getting the 4Runner back on it's wheels before I lost fluids or hydro locked the engine, I was a man on a mission! I wanted to go back in the truck to get my phone, just for a couple pictures, but again I decided against it.

I believe I made the right choice. I had the truck back over in less than 10 minutes, I lost maybe a 1/2 quart of ATF and no engine oil. The truck fired up first try, no smoke or anything.

The camera was fine. I had it on a heavy duty Ram mount, the mount collapsed but it didn't break. I also had two more GoPro's in the truck, but like I explained above it wasn't the time to mess around with setting up a camera. Luckily the 360 camera was able to catch the whole roll over!
 
So I'm sure a few of you are thinking "What the hell, he just rolled the 4Runner again and hardly even cares". Well the truth is it sucks, and I didn't plan on it happening again so fast, but I also figured it would happen one day. I just didn't plan on it happening on my second wheeling trip out.

First of all I'm super happy I was able to get it back over, and get back home without much drama. Second, if you watched the video you will see that it was pretty much just a wide open play spot for snowmobiles, not some crazy side hill with a cliff. I'm honestly surprised it rolled there, but that's the way snow wheeling works, it's very unpredictable! Besides for the windshield breaking (which I am bummed about) the damage was minimal and what I would expect running a harder trail.

The good news is I expected the 4Runner to become more of a toy after the build, and I'm over parts breaking and trying to find a way to get the 4Runner home. So I got rid of the Tacoma and bought this about a year ago! It's a 2015 Tundra, Crewmax Limited edition, I bought it with 60K miles. Don't let the 4Runner know but it's nicest vehicle I've ever owned!

And a couple months ago I came across this 16' car hauler, it needs some minor work but for $1500 it was a killer deal. I still can and will drive the 4Runner on the street, but knowing that I can get home, be comfortable, and have plenty of room for camping gear will be awesome! Don't worry, I still plan on doing overland style trips and driving the 4Runner around, by no means will it be a trailer queen!

After years of running CO2 it's hard to transition to an air compressor. It works, but it's slower than I'm used to. To make airing up the tires easier I built this two tire inflator. Instead of constantly checking the tire pressure in one tire, and being disappointed, I can air up two tires and take care of other things while the tires are filling up.

@%1; I have been following this thread for sometime now, I have finally been able to purchase a second 4Runner that is going to primarily a trail rig with daily capabilities. I’m looking into building a rock assault axle however a member off of a Facebook group I follow said he would sale me his. Turns out it is almost an identical setup of what you are currently running, depending on wear and tear do you know what I should pay for it? Ik what the cost is to build new but I’m weighing pros and cons.

That didn't take long, glad the damage wasn't too bad! That Tundra looks nice, I've been thinking about getting one...anything you don't like about it? The gas mileage is my only real hang up.

It happens. I pretty much have it back to the way it looked before, except for the the windshield. I replaced the mirror, knocked the large dent out of the door, and replaced the A-pillar light brackets. The doors and roof are a little more wavy than before but I think that will be a continuing trend.

I love the Tundra! I was looking at 3/4 ton diesel trucks before I bought the Tundra, but maintenance and repairs on those trucks is super expensive. I have a fairly large fleet of vehicles at work, and the Tundra's are by far the most reliable. Gas milage isn't horrible, last summer I was able to average 17.5 (that was mostly highway miles, and I was trying to see how good I could get). I never bothered resetting the computer, and after driving all winter with snow tires and 4wd (when needed) it dropped to 16.3. I have yet to tow the 4Runner with it so I can't comment on power or fuel economy while towing a heavy load.
 
I took the 4Runner out in the rocks for the first time since the rebuild! I went and ran Trough Trail, which is about 40 minutes from my house. It reminds me a lot of Carnage in BV before it got washed out and super difficult (without the V-Notch and exit). I figured it would be a good test for the truck, and there's rarely any traffic on the trail which is nice for playing around and checking clearances, etc.

They added a new connector trail off of the upper section so you can make a loop and not have to back track. I ran the loop, then dropped back in and drove the main trail back down. Overall the truck worked awesome, it climbed up everything I wanted it to and didn't spin a tire doing it!

Dude that's awesome! Congrats on the rebuild. I know it'll probably never be 'finished' but I bet it feels good to be back on the trails!
 
I’ve been working on the 4Runner as time allows, mostly smaller projects and getting things dialed in.

First on the list was making a spot to carry my trail spares and fluids, the stuff that you don’t need very often but when you need it you really need it. I went through all my stuff and really thought about what I would need if I was out in the middle of nowhere and broke down, or if I was half way through a hard trail and had something break. After some careful deliberation and packing I was able to get it all in in one tool bag, and I built a removable platform above the fuel tank to hold it.

I've taken the 4Runner out a few times now, mainly just working out any bugs and getting used to the new configuration. My last trip was up above Breckenridge on Middle Fork and Georgia pass, not hard but very scenic!

I also set up an Instagram account, my user name is @mr.dirtco I still plan on keeping this thread up to date as time allows, but it's easier to share pictures with my friends that don't visit this site and the upload process is much faster.

Holy cow! That 3rd pic looks like it was taken from outer space. What elevation is that? Great pics as usual.
 
I guess it's time for my quarterly update! As usual I've been super busy and haven't had much time to spend on the computer, but I will try (as usual) to get everyone back up to speed. I have been trying to post some pictures on Instagram as it takes a fraction of the time vs the forum and third party picture hosting. Anyways...

[MENTION=94888]EatonKyleH[/MENTION] and I went up and ran Holy Cross earlier this summer. He bought [MENTION=88391]NateMob[/MENTION] 's Land Cruiser and had always wanted to run Holy Cross, so why not! We didn't get many pictures but it was still a great time!
