Disable X Reas for good

First post here guys, I"m usually over on IH8MUD......I like the 4runner specific info here allot.

So I'm searching for a '05 4wd 4runner, with every option I can get except the X reas. I'm finding conflicting info here on this, can this system be disabled properly by replacing shocks and springs like on any other 4runner for a small lift / level out the ride / etc...?

Yes XREAS can be completely removed allowing you to install any suspension setup you could put on a stock non-XREAS 4Runner. No part of it is tied to the electronic system, so all you have to do is remove the shocks, fluid line, and reservoirs.

Are you sure that the X-Reas system is not tied to any part of the computer system? No lights are going to be stuck on? Thanks

Yup

do some searches on Xreas removal, suspension etc...

I have personally removed mine at 145,000 and there was no problem. when working on the suspension you always have to be careful not to damage the ABS wires....not hard to avoid it, just read and execute.

The XREAS system is 100% Mechanical

It's not is any way tied into the computer... Mines been removed for almost 75,000 miles. You don't even really need to remove the lines or resevior (sp). They just cut the lines and installed the new shocks.

I did the full line and actuator removal. Its pretty easy, a few bolts and then bending the old tubing and pulling it out from the undercarriage (all this after unhooking the shocks).
