Disabling TCS and Stability Control

So I discovered how to turn off traction control and stability control on my '03. I don't know if it works for '06 and newer as it relies on the truck using ISO protocol for its OBD port.

The TSB for the VSC, etc lights turning on includes programming the deceleration sensor. In the beginning of that process is the process to erase the previous "zero point" values. If you stop after erasing those values, your stability control and traction controI will be deactivated, leaving your ABS intact.

I am just now seeing this and was wondering for clarification would pretty much any OBDII scanner be able to do this? Is looking like a better option than the other mods out there

is this a permanent deactivation of them? id love to be able to do this on my GX, but i want it selectable for when o go off road say like in sand or snow or in lose rock when climbing...

You don't use an OBD scanner, just 2 wires that you stick into the specific holes in the OBD plug and tap together when required by the TSB. This will leave the VSC and TC off until such a time as you complete the whole TSB and reprogram the deceleration sensor. Both wiping the values and reprogramming takes all of 30 seconds. Follow these steps up to step 4. Use 2 wires with the ends stripped, tap them together to short and apart to open the circuit. To undo it, follow the rest of the steps.

That is awesome. I just ordered an obd2 plug and a momentary toggle switch to make a more accessible option. Ill try it once i receive them.

You don't need any special tools for this. Just a couple of lengths (equal length) of wire. Cut the wire to around 2-3 feet in length and strip both ends leaving about 1-2" of wire exposed. Insert one end of each wire into each of the ports, and use the other end as your "switch" (to tap together). Cheap 'n easy.

Step 9 has you apply a short. Is there a step 13 to remove the short properly to restore VSC? I want to be able to turn it back on. Looks like a great tip with no wire hacking. Ready to try it once the wheels are Plasti Dipped.

You likely could but tbh it'd me more trouble than its worth. You could still have to cycle the switch 8 times to erase the point values. It's much easier to just keep 2 coiled up wires in your glove box.

Fair enough...I'd love to have this ability on my 05 functioning with the 07-09 button...I have it in my dash but have yet to make it work properly...
