Disabling vehicle for storage and anti-theft protection

I will be out-of-town for 4-6 weeks. I would like to disable my vehicle so it cannot be started. I usually disconnect the negative battery terminal anyways. In my previous 2nd generation T4R, in the electric box inside the engine bay, I used to take out a large (I believe blue fuse) fuse which would totally dis-able the vehicle. It would crank but never start up.

Is there anything like this in our 4th Gen. T4R that I can safely take out and re-install it later when I am back?

I believe the EFI fuse (1 or 2; I can't recall) will disable the engine. I used to pull it on my 2nd and 3rd gen.

Unless the thief has a way to program a key it won't start. Your T4R has a 'chipped' key.

I have always wondered how good these "passive immobilizers" are. Cars with them certainly get stolen, but I wonder if it is only the real pros that can do.

I do know one way cars get stolen is that thieves break in the house and steal the keys. I keep my spare keys in a safe. I also use a club on my steering wheel and keep the key for that seperate from the car key.

I usually pull the battery terminals completely, removing the ECU fuse couldn't hurt either. If you're storing the truck for a deccent amount of time, put some Sta-Bil in there and run it through your fuel system for 5 mins. Keeps gas from going stale, and your car will fire up with no hessitation

Trust me, you're not starting an engine without the immobilizer and key matching. I ran into this in a recent engine swap. It'll start and die right away. Won't work.

EFI fuse is more than enough to stop most theives. It's a LOT less obvious than the battery cable pulled (easy to fix that) and you don't have to reset radio stations

Or why not take one tire out and put on a jack. Better yet, take all the tires out and put it on blocks. Now no one would like to steal it. :lmao:
