Discontinued V8

Hello, I am looking to get a used 2005-2007 4runner, and realized that Toyota discontinued the V8 option in the 5th gen 4runners. So my question is why? Because I'm looking in the 05-07 years there is the V8 option, but if thy discontinued it in the 5th gen is there a reason not to get the V8 version?
Thanks!

Yes you are quite correct there is no reason at all to not to get a V8, that is if you would rather have a V8 over a 4.0 V6:wow:

Toyota's 2UZ-FE V8 uses a timing belt with ~90k service interval whereas the 1GR-FE V6 has a timing chain. this has nothing to do with why the V8 was discontinued as an option for the 5th Gen 4Runner, however.

if you're buying a used V8 with commensurate mileage check to see if the timing belt was done. or budget additionally for it.

You learn something new everyday. Never knew that commensurate was a word or what it meant. lol
