DIY: Flaher Relay Mod(LED)-12 pin

This post helped me a lot, thanks for taking the time to write it up and take pictures!

I modified my relay module, but ended up with two resistors in series: 0.10 + 0.15 Ohm. I guess it depends on the specific LED bulbs used.

When I turn on the flashers now, I get one short flash followed by normal speed flashing. I don't know if I need still more resistance, but it doesn't bother me and I'm not really in the mood to open everything up again!

I am using all leds in front, halogens in the rear. I did this when i did the facelift. I have had a tail light go out and i knew right away because the hyperflash came back like it is supposed to. I also tow and have no problems with the trailer lights. Hazards always worked normal before mod and after too.
I thought about a pot, but couldn't get much info on the specs needed.

For the pot, I checked and couldn't find any that were low resistance. All the components I found started at 1 Ohm or more.

I had the same issue. I found another thread on this or another toyota forum outlining what I did. The guy used a dremel with a drum sander if I remember correctly. I used my bench grinder very carefully of course. I just ground down a little at a time and tested functionality. It took slightly more than half to be ground off. I got it to perform just as stock, so if any bulb goes out, the hyper flash will return. This may sound daunting, but the whole thing took maybe ten minutes.

I don't have any grinding tools at all, but I had a solder gun handy - and I'm pretty handy with the solder gun - so that's the route I took.

I gotta revive this thread. I have hyper flash and I have an 05 V6 SE. I'm confused whether or not I have a 8 or 12 pin. I would much rather just replace the whole relay. Does anyone have any idea without me taking everything apart?
 
More information on this for anyone grinding the loop on the relay:

I have LED's front and back and I had to grind off a ton of material to get the flashers to blink normally. My loop is about the thickness of a couple pieces of paper. In fact, I ground so much off it snapped so I had to re-solder a portion of it.

Check for normal blinking speed with the vehicle running as well as stopped with key in the ON position. Mine blinked normally with the engine off so I put everything back together only to find out that when the engine runs the hyperflash came back. Probably a slight voltage change from the alternator being on.

After all that, everything works as it should though. Drum sander and dremel is the way to go if you have it. I wish someone would have made a 12pin relay for LED's but at least I got it done.
