DIY Full Length Rack

I'm in the Pipe Creek area. Seems like there are a few of us all nearby.

We should set up a meet sometime, maybe go for a Hill Country cruise.

I'd definitely be up for that! We just moved to Kerrville a couple of months ago from South Texas, and I really don't know what's around here.
 
I love Kerrville, actually got baptised there last month.

They have some cool bars there, and you're not far from Fredericksburg, TX, which has a lot of cool activities.

A Hill Country cruise would be cool. I used to ride my bike through the twisted sisters, but there are several places we could all venture off to.

I'm thinking a cruise and lunch, or maybe a fishing trip some where close by would be cool.

Awesome build and thanks for all of the info. Would you by chance have any of the dimensions for your rack that you could lend. What sealant did you use and did you use any spacers or rubber in between the rack and legs or the legs and roof? I plan on building mine here in a week or two. Any help would be much appreciated and unfortunately I live quite a distance from y'all so no meet ups for me unless y'all wanna drive up here to Indiana. Thanks again.
 
88" on the bottom ring and 82" on the top. 2" of tubing that holds the bottom and top together. Width is 45.5". I used some marine sealant I bought at Walmart. I did use some rubber washers to fill the gap between the bolts and I used garage door rubber bought at Home Depot. It's the rubber that goes on the bottom of a garage door base. I used this rubber as protection between the bracket and the roof of the Runner.

I plan on doing more and building them custom. Basically how the customer wants it I'll do it. Not taking people's money until the work is done. And I won't take three or four months to do it either.

Looks great. I'm definitely interested in purchasing one, likely shorter than yours to clear the moonroof.

I know HELOTESTXTRD, and he really is a exceptional person, and does great work. He is a straight shooter and ultimately wants everyone to be happy.
 
Do you have pics of the build process? I think my welder will weld 16ga. I'm guessing the notching would be the trickiest part. Maybe have to buy a month subscription to the Makers Place(local shop that has every tool available for members or paying guests)
 
Plans

If you get tied up fabricating a bunch of these racks I'm sure you could sell the exact plans for these and people would buy them (I would in a heartbeat).

It would be much easier for a fab shop to put one together with exact specs instead of having make it from scratch.

very cool OP....I was talking to another Texas 4R member the other day about using that diamond tread sheet on a Prinsu...how did you secure that? and any thoughts about how to secure it on a cross-bar Prinsu like set-up

I tack welded the expanded metal onto the tubing. That's the best way, and be sure to tack it as much as possible, if there is any section that can move it will rattle when you go over bumps.
