DIY shovel brackets

Cheap (and creative) as I am... I spent less than $10 for this little "mod" An ugly bracket for an ugly rack...perfect! The black shovel looks cool though...

12" piece of rubber hose, and 1.5" electrical conduit clamps and some misc. bolts, nuts, washers and spacers

Here it is all together:

I will probably still tinker around with it a little bit, like longer bolts with pins drilled and inserted through the ends so I a wing nut doesn't fall off and get lost on a trail...like one did in my driveway. The general idea will stand though.

Next is one I am working on for my hi-lift jack, more like $15 on that one.

I don't know how it is in Colorado...but here in San Francisco, if your truck was parked like that, the shovel will for sure be gone.

Thanks, all. Yeah, the shovel's only going up there when I hit the trails, same with the hi-lift, this way I keep them, and keep them in good shape. I left a ladder on my truck one time in downtown denver and... well... notice I say I only left it once...

I call the rack ugly, because up close the welds are pretty bad, (my first time) and it's got a crummy touch up spray-paint paint job (yeah mine too). Maybe when I finish all my brackets I will post a thread about the rack as a whole. It's all about function

Perhaps you can drill a small hole in the bolt so you can add a little lock. I had something like that to hold my HiLift jack in the bed of my old pick up truck. Not my idea - I got it at a 4x4 shop. I used a mini Master lock to keep people for walking off with my HL.

Good idea.
