Then had to also sand, heat and bend the back cover

Now. It. Doesn't. Rub. Ughhh

how is the gap at the bottom two spokes between the wheel and the rear cover? thats a lot of rubbing

So....... I get home and I have the dreaded slip from USPS in my mailbox stating that they have a package for me. It has a tracking # on it so I go and look on Ebay and it's my wheel. I go to USPS to look at the tracking and they show no such thing. No wonder USPS is broke! It says I can pick it up in the morning!!!

So finally it's in! Ordered it Aug. 9 and arrived Aug. 15.

Gonna throw in my 2 cents b/c I've done this before with my Surfs.
First thoughts: Very Nice! I have to say, I remember my steering wheel for my Surf felt heavier and leather SEEMED to be of higher quality. Because this is black, I can't "study" it, but I will say it's a "mirror" finish, no flaws and leather feels nice. I had my Surf (and wheel) for about 3 years and it held up very well. Some nicks eventually showed up (due to wrist watch and wedding ring constantly tapping it), but the finish was never ruined. For now, I will say this is a quality wheel, but I've seen "better". Of course, this is relative being that there really isn't much to choose from for our beloved 4Runners. Let's see how it holds up. Time will tell.

But honestly, it funny how we "NEED" to have it. It's very sweet, but I'll hold back further praise until it is installed and has "been in service" for awhile.

Hahaha so I kinda fixed my rubbing issue but I'm still gonna get in touch with the seller to try to see if I can't get another one

If anybody is worried about the swap, don't fret. It's very straightforward in how it comes apart and back together. If you disconnect the battery or just turn the ignition off with the key removed make sure you wait 90 seconds before disconnecting the air bag. They have a 90 second back up power source. Also, be sure you mark where the old wheel is exactly before you remove it so you know you get the new one on the correct spline.

No thumb imprints on the leather part, and no perforated leather. The leather you got actually better matches our interiors. See what they say, you definitely got the wrong wheel, but it still is very nice!

Here is a better shot of the wheel. The camera really picks up the contrast in the 2 colors but to the human eye you can't see it.
