ok I got bulled into it and now am totally psyched to get it! not to mention really jealous that you all have yours! never fails I am always the second to last to get something. But now I guess I'm 12th to last thanks to that sneaky seller!
I'm gonna install it and not tell my girlfriend, we will see if she notices!

FIGURED OUT THE CLOCK SPRING ISSUE!!!!
I turned it too much when I did the bodylift while installing the steering spacer. I turned it left and it works fine, full brightness. I'll pull the wheel off again, turn the clock spring two rotations left, and see if I'm right
Edit: my hypothesis was incorrect :moping:
The controls illuminate turning left from center, but center->right, they shut off. I think the wire was stretched
ALSO, I'm getting contact between the wheel and column, anyone else have this issue? It's only when the wheel is turned to the 5 o'clock direction.

two things:
1: clockspring. if you think it was stretch. it just may have the ribbon cable clip come out a little bit. that involves opening up the clock spring. probably looking like this a little
2: contact. you mean it makes a rubbing noise? remember i wrote to trim something with a razor?
Is it cool to quote yourself? LOL, i did tell you what will happen if you dont trim the excess off and clip it on correctly
Also you can make the clip come off if you tried popping the two side covers off to get access to the T30 torx screws to pull the airbag off when you realigned the wheel again.Betcha $1 that if you went out to the truck right now and touched the bottom rear cover around 730 and 430 where the two bottom spokes are, they are loose a little.
ok, aftermarket is not 100 perfect. you need to trim off the excess foam around the bottom two spokes especially. this is where the rear cover clips onto. you dont trim it, the rear cover will come off and rub on the ignition cover.
picture of the controls back on and look at the borttom left and right is where i trimmed off excess foam so the rear cover can clip back on nicely.

1. I'll have to find the time to check for a ribbon cable
2. I have two rectangular pieces of black foam that'll say you're wrong. I trimmed that foam back enough for them to solidly clip on. And I've tried pushing the backing onto the wheel. It's definitely on there

Ok I guess I just got suckered in as mine original wheel has got the "icky" feeling too and a ton of little nicks and wear marks. Just ordered one of these and can't wait to install!

I'm still a tad concerned about the feel. I've always had leather bound wheels and not used a wood one. I would think if your hands sweat you would end up with an oddly sticky steering wheel from the sweat but so far talking with some friends they are saying thats not the case?

You will love it! I've had cars with plastic/leather/wood and the wood/leather combo is definitely the best feel. I also have sweaty palms, so wiping it down isn't an issue. With leather, the salt from you hands eventually (takes years) breaks down the leather. Unless of course you constantly condition it but then who does that? Anyway, this wheel has "thumb imprints"..... Looks like a comfortable grip. Can't wait until mine comes in.

The thumb grips are kinda iffy but I'll get used to em!
As for the wood steering wheel, it feels fantastic! Nice and thick, but it's not sticky or anything. Nice and glossy, your hands slide right over it no problem.
I'll find out the sweat issue for sure after a few long hauls, especially on my move to Seattle haha

And I accidentally grounded my horn wire (female spade connector) when I disconnected my airbag last night. Horn blaring at midnight, I had NO idea what I did lmfao

Steve could tell ya.
Personally, it took me 30 minutes, a T30 torx driver, a Phillips screw driver, a razor blade, and a 19mm socket to do the swap. It took me 30 minutes start to finish including getting some dirt and dust off the pieces
