DIY: Steering wheel replacement with black wood wheel

Any idea what it would cost someone to install something like this? Just approximate? I'm not sure if I want to mess with the airbag

BEST to have an installer do it, but as Alex said, it's a straightforward install with some trimming required (doesn't look too tough). Airbag? Please........ just remove your battery's negative and leave the car alone for 5 minutes. Then proceed to remove the airbag. I've removed mine a couple of times (5x in my Jeep............... then again, it being a Jeep, it probably didn't work anyway, LOL).

You'd be better off getting a blind retarded monkey to swap your wheel for ya.....

Go to a car audio place or just do it yourself. It's seriously one of the easiest and fastest mods I've ever done to my truck, except of course the phone pole mod, then the tree mod in the same location of my truck, then the CAI install, then the shift knob swap....

If you can check your tire pressure and easily inflate them to the factory recommended pressure, you can install a steering wheel

Where do you live? If you wanna toss money aimlessly, at least toss it towards someone who could put it to good use (read: truck parts)

Couple of things, don't think dealership would do it. Liability issue, something to do with srs and aftermarket wheel.
Indy mechanic would, but would they know how?
Jiffy lube can't even change oil properly, I'd be scared.

I think I provided so much info in this thread that it virtually can install itself.

If you can read and follow instructions. You can do this. If you not sure, ask questions before you do this.

You can also ask a trusted body shop to do this. This stuff is right up their alley.

I'd start with a car stereo place. They usually install car stereos/DVD monitors/Alarms/etc. Those are the ones who dabble in this kind of stuff. Do a google search in your area and read reviews. Go with the best reviewed, call them and see if they can do it. Done.

Or you can grow a pair and throw it on yourself. HAHAHAHAHHa, just kidding.

I installed my wheel on my acura and even had to splice horn wires, and it was a very simple job. If you're not comfortable or confident doing it, then please don't. Like cookie said, try a stereo shop or custom shop

here is my video of the wheel. it doesnt touch but gets close.


i think the bottom two clips need to be in real tight. on another note, i did have the covers off on my truck when i did my remote starter/alarm. i may have moved it back a tad so it doesnt touch.
