Just my 2 cents, but look for a jack that is rapid pump. Its a nice feature to have. I have a cheap 3 ton autozone jack that I bought when I had my wrangler on 33's. Worked great. My father in law has a nice 4 ton rapid pump at my shop I split with him but I cant remember the brand. Im heading down there tonight to look at the wife's car and I will report back with a brand. So far its reached the runner with the new 3" lift installed. Still sitting on the stock tires as of now though...

The term SUV is mainly used in America. I personally use it to describe the mall crawlers or vehicles that you would take on anything past a service road. I too refer to a 4Runner as a truck
Anyways. I think that bottle jack/stand hybrid is kind of cool but I would not substitute it for a good old fashioned jack stand.

Jack placement
Stonewhite,It is your truck but it looks to me you are jacking the truck off the ground using the trans crossmember. I don't see that your stands will reach the actual frame of the truck.To me jacking at this place on the frame may damage your trans or at least the crossmember itself. just my 02 cents.

Just jacked mine up to debug a bad (anti) sway bar bushing.
Here are my observations.
1. Get 4 jack stands (mine are 15 inch 6 ton on sale from Harbor Freight)
2. Get the biggest jack you can get (mine is the biggest one Costco had)
Get your chocks anywhere you can, but, many foreign cars come with yellow foldable chocks, which are great if you save them or get them cheap at a junk yard.
I'm not sure what the best jacking points are for the 2WD 4runner:
a. I used the front crossmember
b. And the differential
As for WHERE to put the jackstands, that's a dilemma.
A. In front, I used the rectangularish "frame" just below the front door.
B. The rear is harder as there is no "frame". I used the pivot point.
If you have a BETTER place to put the jack stands or to jack up the 2WD 4runner, please let me know.

Put your jackstands under the axle tubes in the rear. It's strong enough to support the vehicle when it isn't on a jack, so it has to be strong enough to support it on a jackstand.
The same could be said for the lower control arms (unless you need access to lower suspension parts).

I've owned my 4Runner for 5yrs or so and have jacked it up more times than I can remember via crossmember or frame and have yet to have an issue or degradation in metal.
