So I will call this a modest build thread due to there won't be a very many mods compared to others on here but I'll give it a shot. Picked this up the other day 99 sr5 with 198k and tall coils. Previous owner had receipts for recent timing belt and water pump install along with transmission and radiator flush and a couple other things I can't remember off hand. First pic right when I got home with it and second is about 45 minutes later first mod running boards removed.

Added some TRD stickers and painted the wheels with semi-gloss black.

So first thing I did the next day was get online and order a b&m trans cooler. Shipped and on the way. Next being a black vehicle the paint was in need of some wax. So I hit it with a mother's clay bar kit followed by meguirs ultimate compound and meguirs gold class carnauba wax. Looks great some plasti dip is coming soon.

Lower ball joints ordered today on the way from camelback toyota. Oh and I almost forgot A set of OME 881 and ome 906 with a differential drop on the way. Can't wait should be a fun next couple of weeks!

Got the grill and badges plasti dipped came out ok I could have done a better job but not bad for my first time working with this stuff.

Next up is some wheel paint. Thinking about going with dupli color bronze wheel paint. Any have any thoughts or experiences with the paint and color.

You need to pick the paint around the letters of your badges it looks tacky with paint in between the letters :behindsofa:

How would you recommend to do this I was having a tough time with a toothpick and needle nose.

for the wheel paint i would use rustoleum wheel paint. Im not sure if you have that your way but we do and it works great. Do you want like a matte black or glossy?

Toothpick and take your time, watch a couple youtube videos. It can be done where it looks good.

Baxter31- I will definitely check out the rustoleum I saw the dupli color first at the store the other day and was wanting to go with a bronze. I really like the contrast of bronze wheels on a black vehicle.

Arnezie- Thanks for the input I will give it a shot again one night this week when kids r asleep and I have some time to concentrate.

Has anyone dealt with wheelers and changing an order that hasn't shipped? I ordered ome springs late Friday night and it hasn't shipped I am wanting to change from the ome 906 to the ome 890. I don't want to end up wanting more lift after the spring settles so I figured I would go with the 890 and have a little rake in it.

Very impressed with Camelback. Never had such quick service and shipping and the lowest price oem I could find. I will go to them for all my oem parts from now on!:whoo:

ha! Mine were out of stock, maybe because I ordered the 2 special bolts supposedly needed for 01/02s, so it took about 10 days from order to delivery, but that's fine. LBJs aren't something I was gonna throw in on a whim anyway. I need to get the pullers and what not.

Their prices are great for OEM. Probably look at them for my rear brake shoes as well, since OEM is def. the way to go there.

Anyone have advice for assembling the front struts? Gonna start here in an hour or two?

How did it go? Spring compressors, especially the wall kind, are your friend.

Didn't get around to it last night because I couldn't find anywhere that had strut mounts in stock. Gonna start today around 4 and re use my strut mounts. Also gonna be doing my lbj at the same time. Hopefully get the fronts done tonight and the rears tomorrow followed by alignment.
