if we didnt lift our rigs so high up front, we would of have enough clearance with the shroud in stock height. i wonder if i should just lower my front, use the bottom spring setting on the 5100s.

Never drop it! Just lift the rear some more. lol.

You say that, but I personally didn't have clearance at stock height - for me it was always an issue of vertical (upwards) clearance. What sparked me to re-shroud was actually height gained post-lift/tires- I had to re-aim downwards significantly afterwards so I figured it might have given me enough clearance to clear the shrouds. Well, it didn't and I had to shave out the inner lip around the projectors to gain satisfactory clearance. Even now, my projector to shroud clearance isn't really that great, but acceptable - for me lowering my front would cause me shroud interference again...lol.

Hey, thanks for the all the kind words! I'm a compulsive researcher so I figured I'd log all my findings (and misfortunes) here for the community.

I carefully chose my projectors and bulb color after a lot of research and deliberation and am very happy with the results - hopefully I'll be around when you get back to help you long with your build, whenever that is!

It took me way too long to get all this done, so I appreciate the compliments. I think everyone underestimates the time it came take to followthrough with certain projects haha.

I’ve seen some of the new morimoto M LEDs they put out and they look SO good. They’re just as bright as the D2S 5.0 if not brighter.

Well considering the issues and everything else, it wasn’t too bad. To get it how you want takes time otherwise you’ll settle for something you don’t like and end up re-doing it anyway hahah but I appreciate that. I’ll definitely reference this thread when the time is here to do mine and hopefully you’re (me too) still around to help.

I couldn’t do it every day, that’s for sure. I always hate tedious tasks and yet I’m a diesel tech lol. Don’t know how that worked out...

Yeah I debated for a long time about thr MLED 2.0s, but in the end I didn't really like the color - I like warmer bulb temps around 4000-4300k - more natural looking and better rendering at night. The output the the MLED are very nice though, indeed.

I understand that, the color isn’t for everyone. I agree that the warmer temps are better for contrast but are still easy on the eyes as well.

Yeah it’s not for everyone. Sometimes I wish I did something else but in the end I enjoy it. That would be great, although it’ll have to be forced induction otherwise they won’t be able to compete. Also, they’d have to abide by the EPA laws and trust me, they’ll be super unreliable with the aftertreatment system. Why do you think people delete them? (Not only to roll coal lol)

Yeah, reduced fatigue is great, especially for longer drives as well.

As long as you enjoy it at the end of the day man. Yeah - they make a turbo diesel V8 - 1VD-FTV, but I'd also be happy with the straight-six 1HD-FTE. Last I heard it is a possibility for the Tacoma...to compete with the Ford/Chevy light truck diesel offerings. (I thought it was just to mostly roll coal lol).
