Do 3rd gens have speed sensor/warning tone?

Just got back from a 1500 mile road trip and twice when I was between 73-78 mph (don’t really know the speed I was traveling but around that speed) a tone/buzz came from the dash maybe 2-3 seconds long no dash lights and the truck ran flawless,
Does the 99 limited 4Runner have an option speed warning alarm or do I have something else going on?

Definitely sounds like something else. Never once have I ever heard of anything like that.

Are you asking if theres an alarm that comes on at interstate speeds, only once, for a couple seconds, with no lights to tell you WHAT it's alarming you over? That's just silly.
What seems more likely; that alarm exists, or it was a harmonic vibration somewhere for a split second because you were going nearly 80 in a 20 year old SUV? :doh:

Wasn’t a harmonic vibration definitely a tone/long beep, I rarely don’t drive that fast that was why my thoughts went there,

Hmm, very weird. Was it the same tone as something already on our vehicles (ex; door chime) or was it new altogether?

The only alarm that I can think of, that is factory and comes ON at around 100km or 65mph, is the multi-mode transfer case ECU buzzer, indicating that you are going to fast for the AWD to be engaged - aka engage front wheels.

You would have the 4WD icon along with the center diff lock icon in the middle of the combination meter start flashing.

But this feature is only available on 4Runners with multi-mode transfers. You can tell if you have this type of transfer if you have a switch on the driver's side of the transfer shift lever with 4WD written on it.

Other than that, it could be any of the other buzzers, like key or lights reminder, but it would indicate an electrical issue if it turned ON while going highway speeds.

It runs great so I guess I’ll keep on trucking

I have heard a beep beep beep in quick succession before. Did it sound like that? That usually goes off when the back in steps out (when driving in snow or wet grass). Could be a sign that whatever sensor that uses is going bad?

The 01-02's will beep at you with the Traction/Stability control systems. I hated it.... My 00 doesn't beep at me. It's on me to keep it together. I'm not a purist completely against traction control but the 01-02 T4R trac is awful. You can barely get the truck moving in 2wd in the snow and there's no way to turn it off.
