Do 3RZ's like iridium plugs?

So im at 185k miles...probably due for new spark plugs haha. Was going to pick up some iridium ones from Oreilly, but a friend of mine mentioned that his 4runner ran horribly with nice plugs, but was great with basic copper ones. So...anyone with a 3RZ know if iridium plugs are okay? Or should i just get basic ones

in my opinion, if your doing iridium, it can go another 100k before the next change. just make sure to use denso or ngk brand.

I would go with Denso coppers. I can't speak specifically to the 3RZ because I've never heard mine run, but I've had three 22REs and one 5VZE that all hated anything but basic Denso or NGK plugs.

More important than the metal is having dual ground plugs, at least for the 6-cylinder 5VZ-FE. Check the owner's manual but on mine there's a nice big sticker on the timing belt cover and in the owner's manual to only use dual-ground spark plugs. I've yet to find an iridium plug with dual grounds though, if there is such a thing I'd be on that in an instant since I have to run cooler plugs because of the super-duper charger.

There's been members pulling out OEMs from the factory over 150k miles later. All have the dual grounds. Can't really go wrong with what the manual calls for.

I just switched out my plugs now that i hit 150,000 miles on my 99 3rz. I used e3's and so far its running just as good if not better than before!
