Do all 4th Gen T4Rs have the same rake?

Hi:

I am looking at used T4Rs now and am thinking about getting the Cornfed 3/2 lift. I saw some pictures of 08 and 09 models and especially in the 09 models it looks like the front is higher than other models. Is this true or is it just an illusion in the pics I have seen. What about the 08 model. If I get the 3/2 lift I want to be sure the front isn't going to be higher than the back. Has anyone seen a list of rakes for each year of T4R anywhere. Thanks, Kent

Its an illusion. If you get the 3/2 the front will appear higher than the back. I hate that look IMO. Go for a 1:1 ratio lift.

I have an 07 with the Cornfed 3/2. Mine ended up with the rear still slightly higher than the front - 3/4 inch to be exact.

Cornfed 3/2 Lift. Spidertrax wheel spacers, Michelin LTX A/T2 275/65/18 with XREAS preserved. Note this tire size required some front trimming work (http://www.top4runners.com/ja/2007/wheelspacers.html) as well as an alignment with positive caster adjustment so the rear of the front tires would not rub the frame. I like it.

In general, all 4th gens have the same amount of rake. There might be normal production variences from one 4Runner to another, but they are all pretty much the same.

As far as lifts are concerned, eskimochaos has it all wrong. If you raise the front 1 inch more than the rear, the front will not in any way look higher than the rear. I don't care if you do a 1" front lift, a 2/1 lift, or a 3/2 lift. All of those choices will give you 1 inch more lift in the front than the rear and will help make the stance more level, but it will still be considerably higher in the rear.

Some people like to use the running boards to judge if the vehicle is sitting level. Again, a lift that is 1 inch higher in the front will still leave your running boards a bit higher in the rear than in the front. I have a 1" front lift only and I still have some rake, whether I'm looking at the wheel well gap or the running boards.

i seem to have a bit more rake than others on here....about 3.25". it seems most are around 2.5". i asked the dealership about it when i was in there last and they said it was due to the V8 being made from steel versus the aluminum block of the V6. so the extra weight was why mine sat lower in the front.

didn't really make sense to me that if you buy the larger engine, you get less suspension travel. seems like they'd do heavier springs or something.

The 1" leveing and 3/2 lift kit have been the most popular. It will help get rid of most of the squashed look, with the front still slightly lower than the rear. This make sense because as soon as you add a rear passenger or any cargo, then the truck will sit level. If we made it that everything was even, as soon as you'd add a passenger or anything in the back, the rear would look like it was sagging.

Toyota seems to be starting a new trend in my opinion that noone likes with that super squashed look. You will love the 3/2 lift, I can say that much.

I've noticed that some lifts if they're a 2/1, 2.5/1.5, or 3/2 can cause it to look nose high and I think it has to do with the roof line. Stock with the rake the roof line is level, when it's lifted the roof line seems to be angled upwards. causing it to seem nose high. Just my opinion.

"Must not kill person in front of you in the advent of a collision" is Toyota's main (sole?) reason for the rake I suppose. Raising the front raises your bumper such that you're no longer bumper-on-bumper contact in an accident.

As to "level" it depends as to what you're considering. For some, it's the running boards and others it's the gap between the fender well and the ground.
