Do I need a specific Trailer hitch mount?

Hey all, sorry for another stupid question, but I'm kind of a noob when it comes to car stuff.

My question is about tow hitch mounts, my t4r didn't come with one when I bought it. I would like to have one, considering I hope to be moved to Colorado in a bit (no clue on a date yet, but I've been applying for jobs there every time one comes down the list).

I was thinking about just going to a junk yard and grabbing one from there, but my question is do I need to get one specifically off a t4r or tacoma, or are hitch mounts pretty much universal?

I went to Uhaul and they quoted me a bit over 300 bucks to install one, not bad especially considering all the wiring is included and it comes with a warranty, but I figure I could probably do it for way less if I did it myself, especially with one from a junk yard.

Thanks! :D

You're wasting your money imo. If you're a little mechanically inclined you can do this by yourself or with a friend. They are fairly simple to install and the wiring will run off of your taillights anyway.

To find your specific application just get on amazon or if you can find one from toyota in the junkyard or Craigslist that is fine too. The wiring you will want to source from amazon. The more important thing than the hitch will be the transmission cooler. This will knock out two birds with one stone since you can avoid the pink milkshake and cool your transmission while towing.

I think a hitch is 4 bolts. I did it by myself with wiring included in an hour....maybe a little more. The tranny cooler is also simple but I have not done one (I have a 5spd)
