This I also agree with. I love to give folks with lifted Wranglers and pickups a hard time when their axles are so clean it's obvious the vehicle has never left pavement.

This old codger's cut his own hair for over 20 years to save money. Admittedly, half the time it looks like shit. But when I'm havin' fun in the mountains, where my short hairs are more functional, the last thing I'm thinkin' 'bout is how I look.
So I'm sure as hell not in this "new" 4R money pit to look good.
But if function over form, in my hair or on my rig, occasionally gets me some special attention by a mountain gal who has similar values, then it's a good day to be alive.

I'm 43 and have been cutting my own hair since I was 16. It's a buzz cut, so it's not much work. Clippers, 1/4" guard, and that's it.

Not sure how I would have reacted to this interaction. I agree with most, function over looks (buy once cry once on quality mindset). I do build trying to compliment other parts as well. To each their own as long as it doesn’t endanger others or themselves.

I was loading lots of shit into my truck and couldn’t get away. I park far from the front because I need room to get out with my bad knee but he parked next to me.

I prefer the sleeper look. I only run spacers because I need to kick out the wheels further for trail use and clear the UCAs... that and I run snow tires in the winter when I travel to CO and WY and don't want to spend a few grand on fancy Chicom wheels.
Most of the mods were to improve off road use on fire roads and washboards (terrible roads they plow with graders) without sacrificing on road performance.
And yes [MENTION=103801]sn_85[/MENTION] it's starting to look like a shitbox from years of heavy use.

There's a parent in one of my son's carpool lines with a new Defender with the "explorer pack" including factory rack and external side storage box. Does it look cool? Beholder beware.

that was me with my son this morning. I'm in my 4R with misaligned front bumper from hard hit last time and lots of random body damage and then there's that pretty black Land Rover a few cars behind us. I think they waxed it just before leaving the garage.
there's also this guy with an overlanding taco i see every sunday early morning at Walmart. He has this massive hook in is hitch which tells me he never uses it for anything other than the going to beach as it sticks out a good 6".

I picked up a set of same year-ish takeoffs for a pretty decent price and through some skinny(ier) 255/75r17 duratracs on them for winter. It's funny you mentioned spacers, I considered adding them when I swap out for winter.
There are enough mallanders around here...hell there are a bunch a dorks in foresters and outbacks rocking rooftop tents year-round

I say Function & looks together makes it perfect and it really doesn't matter what anyone else thinks enjoy you ride and have fun.
I see tons of 4R with Gobi racks and 3" lifts + big tires yes they do look very cool.
this really funny i park far away usually as well don't care for shopping cart dings and enjoy the walk but every time i return to my truck out of all the parking slot some one will park right next to me :faint:

I do the mods that I like or that I want. I don’t care what other people say or suggest. My car, my money. I didn’t buy the 4Runner to be an Instagram celebrity. Some people care way too much about getting followers [emoji23]
