Do you smoke? Just curiosity to go with the banning smoking thread. Not trying to generate a smoking/non-smoking war.

I don't smoke nor did I ever.

I don't smoke either and never will. I can't stand the smell of cigarettes. I would rather spend my $$ on mods for my Toyota rather than cigarettes!!!:D

What does a pack cost these days?

Seems like everyone has jumped on the bandwagon to tax them to death every chance they get.

$4-5 in Cali pending on brand

I smoke from time to time, prefer cigars (my fav brands are banned in the US :( )

Thai, I knew you doctors were in on the smoking and fast food industries, as they are interlinked with the drug companies as well. With the oil companies owning majority shares in the drug comapnies, which in turn are being manupilated by the CIA, who are managed by corrupt politicians, who are put in power with the money from proceeds from all of these companies, which is controlled by doctors, as a bribe to not let them tell the truth about fast food and smoking. :D

I smoked regularily for awhile. Never lots, but I'd smoke a pack in a week or so, most of it on a night if we went out drinking and such. And not every week, sometimes I would smoke 2 packs in a week, and then not smoke for a month.....it was totally random for me, and I never got "addicted" to it, as I would just stop and not even remember trying to stop.

This New Years tho, I figured this has been going on for a few years now and I might as well shut er down more or less for good.

Oh and smokes cost like over $10 for 25's at home :o

i used to be like Northof49. i smoked on occasion. At times I'd smoke a pack a week, and then not smoke for months. Whenever I dated a girl, she'd ask me not to smoke so I'd stop for as long as I was dating her. Now I've quit for almost 2 years, and I've been dating this girl for almost two years. Go figure.....

It's funny that some people are able to start and stop at any time. Maybe it's a tolerance issue.

WOW, $4 to $10 a PACK??? We're not talking cartons here but a PACK!! Dang, I knew the prices had gone way up but I had no idea. The government (local/state/fed) is making a killing on these in taxes.

I know several women that smoke only when drinking and at no other time but then. I never got a good explanation of why only then but if you knew these particular women you'd understand. :bonk:

That $10 is in Canada tho, not even Canada, I think BC's the only province where they're THAT expensive.....we just get the shaft on taxes :(

I've gone down into WA and bought for around $4-5 something.

Smoke pipe only .... have for 35 years!

I even remember when butts were 35 cents a pack!

I Guess that dates me!
Of course I remember when cars had fins and gas was 25 cents a gallon!

PS: Just Tobacco!

Smoke what?

Smoked some when I was a young punk in junior high and high school. Marlboros. Never got the monkey.

Then got all uppity in college. Nuttin' but Dunhills, International 555, Gitanes, Djarums (clove cigs) Never got the moneky....mainly for the hell of it at parties and after.....

Got into cigars during the cigar fad in the 1990s, got really uppity and hung out in cigar bars with Romeo y Julietas, Cohibas, H. Uppmans, Hoya de Monterrey, Punch, etc.

Will still light a stogie once in a great while but have not touched a cig in decades.

Haven't smoked... but I sure do enjoy a cigar once every 5 years. :D A pack of regular smokes are about $10 CDN ($8.30USD)

Don't smoke but since some of my friends do, a pack at the mall is 5.25, give or take a dollar where you buy them and in the city their like 7 bucks a pack some places are 7.50.

I sure as hell know I not gonna break no 10 for a pack of smokes;):

Now the real question is, who smokes the left handed cigarettes? ;)

Oh we are so forgetful.....

Remember all those old movies when Bogie and Bacall would always talk over a ciggie?

Pulling out that gold cigarette case from the inside packet of his suit jacket, glacning up form his fedora...that beautiful Colibri or Alfred Dunhil lighter in shiny black onyx or tortoise shell.....tapping the end of the cig on the cig case to tamp the tobacco down, flickin' on the Colibri or Dunhill lighter....

Can you imagine James Dean without a cig hanging off his lip? That half smile snear and his insouciant attitude? How about James Dean walking donw the street in his long overcoat in that famous photgrpah now turned into a poster "Boulevard of Broken Dreams"?

That wonderful actress Simone Signoret could express more emotions silently smoking a cigarrete in a black and white movie than any one of these Hollywood brats could do in a whole movie. "I Sent a Letter to My Love" probably made smoking de rigeur in broken heart/wrist slashing ciggie scenes......

Can you imagine Marcello Mastroiani without a ciggie? It wouldn't work! Fellini would not make a movie without it.

Can you imagine sitting through any Ingmar Bergman movie without smoking a whole pack? Letting tha smoke curl up your mostrils....doing that french inhaling method....(letting the smoke come out just a bit in a cloud and then sucking it right back in--yes, Bill Clinton, it was stylish to inhale and it achieved an almost art form.)

Can you imagine a torch signer without a ciggie, a smoke filled lounge and a glass of scotch on the piano???? Billie Holiday would not be Bilie Holliday without it. Could anyone listen to Billie in a darken room without wanting to light up a Gitane and pour two fingers of fiery scotch? Maybe three fingers of scotch after a couple of Billie tunes.."....that ol' devil called love....."

Never much went for the cigarettes, aside from some occasional "social smoking" when I was 19 or 20. Nowadays, I think the smell of a cigarette is enough to gag anyone.

I've tried a few cigars - even some genuine Cuban ones when I was in the Bahamas ten years ago, but never found stogies to be very enjoyable.

I guess alcohol will be my vice.
