Dobinson 2.inch lift kit vs Ome lift kit

I have 02 4runner sport edition 2wd. I was looking to go 99 coils with bils 4600 but the cost is the same if I would go with the dobinson 2inch kit or the ome kit. I'm deciding maybe going with the ome 880 up front and 906 in the rear with the ome shocks. Will the 880 raise the front 2inch? Anyone has feedback on the dobinson lift kit? I heard they are good but I dont see many 3rd gen with that setup

I'd advise against OME shocks. While their coils have treated me great over the past 2.5 years, my Nitrocharger shocks were shot to shit after a mere year. I live in Montana and do absolutely no crawling or "racing", simply fire roads and poorly-maintained forest roads. I've switched to the adjustable Bilstein 5100s in the front and 5160s in the rear, it rides awesome now and no leaks. I'll also mention that OME must really halfass paint their shocks-- mine were rusted like you wouldn't believe even before they started leaking and failing.

I really like my front Dobinsons coils, it was partly an experiment for me, just coils, the rest is stock. They have made such a difference that I am now sold on the brand.

Incidentally, I talked to a 4R owner today who had OME on his Jeep and complained they began leaking quickly. That and the above post surprise me because they used to have a very solid reputation for durability.

But even if we assume durability, I have not read anyone anywhere claim that OME suspension is "smooth" or "rides nice". I usually read that it is capable and handles weight etc. So on a 2wd I would personally get something really smooth.

I read a lot of good things about the Eibach suspension being really smooth, comfortable ride.

Mine is 2018 Offroad. I got the 238 and got 1.25" net lift after they settled. No idea how it would be with yours. Ask Mike in his thread. He answers quickly and well.

It's pretty rare hearing stories about OME shocks leaking but their paint is definitely crappy. It flakes off just from the install so you are then left with exposed metal in which rust starts building up very quickly.

Right?? I was disappointed to say the least. From what I've read and heard, OME seems to be regarded as a step above Bilstein so it felt odd "moving backwards" and getting Bilstein shocks. Too soon to tell, but I'm liking the switch so far. Maybe the Aussie climate doesn't encourage rust much so they don't paint prepared for it? They have such a big fan base all over the globe by now though...

The 2WD and 4WD front suspension geometry is the same. 5100's will bolt right on. Springs designed for a 4WD will lift the front end more than expected (the 2WD is much lighter up front).

If you end up doing 5100's, keep the stock/current springs up front and lift using the spring perch adjustment.

I bought a full set of front and rear Dobinsons coils for my '02 4runner sport edition and installed them with new 5100's (front and rear) and two months (TWO MONTHS of all highway driving, no offroading at all) into them they have already started to sag on the front drivers side. I've had the installation check out by multiple suspension shops and all have said everything was done right. I have even sent the issue to Dobinsons and chatted with Mike, but he immediately said that the coils couldn't be the problem. He tried to say that they were installed wrong or that my frame was bent. (Funny how I didn't have this issue with me old suspension or when the new coils and shocks were first installed)

If I could go back and do it again I think I would have gone with a different brand.
