Dobinsons 5th Gen T4R Suspension options - from Exit Offroad

So I don't have a shot of it fully loaded, my brother needed my tent and my fridge broke so the last trip I took was with a cooler and a cot+awning combo. This is a good 250lbs lighter than my normal trip load but it hardly sagged.

My "unloaded" weight is the armor, two full fuel cans, and a minimally stocked fridge; with this the springs maintain a good forward rake which I prefer. Without the fuel cans and fridge the rear sits very high.

For reference, the GX in the background is on the same size tires (285/70/17) with OME mediums. He's got a small drawer system in back but otherwise minimal gear inside. Other shot is unloaded.

I do still have the 677V's if anyone wants to buy them off me for a fair price, they're sitting in my garage collecting dust.

Wonder if those will give me more lift than what I have now. I don't need a full 3" lift, those might fit the bill. I'll ping you when I get back from my trip.

Wouldn't it be the 723 or 725 for the rears with KDSS?

You want to lift front and rear, or just the front?

For front and rear, C59-300 front for 1.75" of lift with the 5100's at the lowest setting, or clip 1 up for ~2" lift. And on the rear, C59-599 for 1" or C59-505 for 1.5". For a tad bit of rake, the 505 coils is what I'd suggest.

How much lift would I expect using Dobinsons shocks/structs with those springs?

Need help fixing a lean after lifting a vehicle with KDSS, this video can help you understand how to push the hydraulic cylinder back up, and take out the lean that the hydraulics is pushing into the vehicle after lifting.

Yeah, I know it's a 200 series land cruiser, but the process is the same. The valves are just 10mm heads instead of 5mm allens, but are still under the US driver's side seat against the frame rail, covered with a protective cover. Photo attached of the 4runner valve system, with cover removed, and the 2 bolts pointed at.

Just be sure to mark the bolts before you start, and don't rotate any more than 3 full turns each, or you could have to head to the dealer for an expensive service to the KDSS system.

Installed c59-300 In the front and c59-723 along with dobinson struts and shocks over the weekend, rides exceptionay better then stock on and off road. No noticeable lean with the taller passenger rear springs.

Very nice!! Came out super level, right!?!

Glad you like it, but also jealous that you threw those parts in then went up and drove over mountains to test it out.

It actually has a slight rake, just not as much as stock. It's just the way I wanted and exactly as you reccomened. 2nd pic is at a angle. Thanks for all your help Mike.

SIAP somewhere, but can anyone tell me the paint color codes for OEM strut coils on a 2016 SR5? I've got one with green & white, the other with orange. Thanks.

Got these today!! Can't wait to install

So, what is the total cost of a setup like this?

one more question: if I were to go with 677s for mostly around town and unloaded, would I be able to use airbags (my current setup or other) for the times that I am loaded up?

677V's unloaded? Prepare to be at 3.5" to 4" of lift height. Not a good idea. They're only supposed to be used with constant weight. And since they're variable rates, you shouldn't need airbags unless you're carrying some serious tongue weight

Oops... I quoted the wrong model, and now I can't seem to find the one I was looking at. (forum user fail):rockthrow:

I was looking at rear springs that would give me a compliant ride on and off road while unloaded with 1.5-2" of lift. I think the ones I was looking at were just under 2". I am looking for something that will still allow me to use my 4R as a daily driver and taking my coworkers to lunch and field sites (farm roads and ranch paths), but will still let me load up and hit the trails back home in Colorado 3-4 times a year. Of course, my budget dictates that I can't spend a ton of money and my wife would prefer I not spend any...:ballchain:

So, I am looking for something to help with lift under mild weight, but I am hoping to still use airbags when towing or loaded up.:noidea:

...I may also be looking for a unicorn with a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, but I realize I "might" not be able to find those either.

C59-505 would be about 1.5", and C59-325 would be at 2". Those would be your options based on what you described, unless you have KDSS. Then it would be C59-723 or C59-725.

Then add your airbags into them and you're good to go.

Do the doninsons rear springs left right compensate for drivers side lean ? I just installed c59-701's and the drivers side is an inch lower then the pass. side. No kdss. Should i swap the springs? Add a spacer. Im assuming the shop that instaled them put them on the right aide if they were labeled.

No KDSS. I figured I knew I was going to be changing out the suspension. So, no need getting anything too fancy up front. Thanks for the feedback!
