Dobinsons 5th Gen T4R Suspension options - from Exit Offroad

Dobinsons Mike

Are the C59-748 coils still available?.

No, not at this time. The Pro coils are being reworked and new part numbers will most likely be made. They're working on a different coil design for these and to hopefully offer more lift, since everyone is insisting on 2" over stock TRD Pro heights.

Nice... I shall put off any suspension purchases until your new product is out!

That explains why I can’t find that thread anymore... if they add 2”, similar spring rate (maybe less dive), and are red, I’m in for sure.

Awesome! holding out for these then. Rather put new springs in than spacers.

When will the new 2" lift TRD coils be available? Will they be red? Price? Thanks. Some rake to compensate for additional weight carrying capability in the back and maybe stiffer up front to allow for bumper/winch.

Probably 3-4 months before we have stock. We still have to finish the design, then test and all that.

Yes, they would be red. Pricing won't be known until it's all done.

Does anybody know if the drive and passenger spring rates are different for non-kdss/non 4x4 models??? im worried about having a lean after the lift?

Amazon is pretty much where they sell. If you can get ahold of mike on here he can send you an invoice thru email with a link to pay thru PayPal. That's what I did.
Depending on what you want, I'm about to have a full Dobinson long travel set up available for sale with 500 miles on it. Pm me if you're interested. It's getting removed next weekend.

where do I even begin.
2018 T4R offroad premium with KDSS
i need a recommendation for a 2.5" lift
and one that will support sliders and front and rear bumpers which come after the lift.

I've been blasted with a lot of questions recently about our suspension offerings for the 5th Gen 4Runners, so I figured it's time to make a specific post about all that we offer. We can lift anywhere from 1.0" to 3.0" with coils and struts/shocks, and we can put together a specific package for whatever you want/need, including the added weight you've added to your vehicle.

Added Load Weight.
How much extra accessory weight have you added to your truck? Did you add a 150LB front bumper and an 80LB winch? That's constant weight, and will change which coil to buy.
Did you add our drawer system (hopefully) to the back end (150LBS) or a steel bumper with swing out tire carrier (200LBS)? That will also change which coil we would suggest.
You will want to consider that weight before ordering. If you order a heavy load coil without a heavy load, be warned that it won't ride as it's supposed to and the lift height will be incorrect.

Contact me directly if you had KDSS and I can walk you through our options for that. FYI, our KDSS coils are offset left and right, one side is taller to match the difference the factory coils have, and we also have instructions on how to install them without the KDSS pushing a lean on the vehicle.

Front Coil Options, without KDSS.
C59-238 - Stock front end, low height lift, 0.75-1.0" lift. 375/375mm, 17mm wire, 586LB
C59-300 - Stock front end load, 1.75" lift. 385/385mm, 17mm wire, 586LB
C59-302 - 100-220LBS heavy load front weight, 2" lift. 395/395mm, 17mm wire, 586LB
C59-302 - Stock front end load, 2.5" lift (or comfort option C59-448 for 3" lift). 395/395mm, 17mm wire, 586LB
C59-448 - Stock front end, comfort option, softer rate than stock, 3" lift (should be run with long travel struts like 5100's). 420/425mm, 17mm wire, 502LB
C59-314 - 80-150LBS medium load front weight, 2" lift. 405/405mm, 17mm wire, 586LB or these same coils will give 2.5" with light front accessory weight of 50-80LBS, or 3" of lift with no front accessory weight.
C59-352 - 120-240LBS heavy load front weight, 3" lift. 385/385mm, 18mm wire, 730LB

***2.5" or more of lift, new adjustable UCA's are recommended***

Front Coil Options, with KDSS. (Recommended for heavy loaded front ends, due to increased spring rates)
Our front KDSS coils are 5mm taller on one side to be installed onto the US passenger side (right side) to compensate for KDSS lean. This removes the need for any trim spacer, such as the OME95PF5, which can't be used on our struts anyway.
C59-722 - Stock front end, low height lift, 1.25" lift. 370/365mm, 18mm wire, 730LB
C59-724 - Stock front end load, 1.75" lift. 375/370mm, 18mm wire, 730LB
C59-726 - 100-220LBS heavy load front weight, 2" lift. 385/380mm, 18mm wire, 730LB
C59-448 - Stock front end, comfort option, 3" lift (should be run with long travel struts like 5100's). 420/425mm, 17mm wire, 502LB

Rear Coil Options, without KDSS.
C59-323 - Stock height rear coils, same specs as rear TRD Pro OE coils, 375/375mm, 17mm wire, 220LB
C59-599 - Stock rear end, 1.0" lift (keeps rear end low, allowing to level the vehicle rake with 2" front lift). 390/390mm, 17mm wire, 220LB
C59-505 - Stock rear end load, 1.25 to 1.5" lift. 405/405mm, 17mm wire, 220LB
C59-325 - Stock rear end load, 2.0" to 2.25" lift. 420/420mm, 17mm wire, 220LB
C59-327 - 200-400LB heavy rear load weight, 2" lift. 410/410mm, 18mm wire, 271LB
C59-329 - 600-800LB super ridiculous heavy rear load weight, 2" lift. 410/410mm, 18mm wire, 286LB
C59-675V - Variable rate comfort option, stock rear weight, 3" lift. 470/470mm, 16mm wire, 157-230LB variable
C59-677V - Variable rate comfort option, 400+LB heavy rear load weight, 3" lift. 500/500mm, 16mm wire, 157-230LB variable
C59-701V - Variable rate, 600+ LB heavy rear load weight, 3" lift, long travel. 500/500mm, 210-245LB variable. Designed for those with heavy full rear bumper, tire carrier, roof rack, RTT, drawers, and fridge. Rides very well with all that weight, as well as when loaded even further.

Rear Coil Options, with KDSS.
Our KDSS coils are 15mm taller on one side to go onto the US passenger side (right side) to compensate for vehicle lean
C59-723 - Stock rear end, 1.25" to 1.5" lift, offset height coils for KDSS leveling. 420/405mm, 17mm wire, 228LB
C59-725 - Stock rear end, 1.75" lift with 3rd row, 2" without, offset height coils for KDSS leveling (similar to C59-325). 430/415mm, 17mm wire, 228LB
C59-727 - 200-400LB heavy rear load weight, 2" lift, offset height coils (similar to C59-327). 430/415mm, 18mm wire, 271LB
C59-729 - 600-800LB super ridiculous heavy rear load weight, 2" lift, offset height coils (similar to C59-329). 430/415mm, 19mm wire, 333LB

Front Strut Options
GS59-700 - Twin Tube, fixed mount (not adjustable), suits 0-2" lift (21.3" extended length), can be used on stock height or lifted vehicle, use with OE or aftermarket coils, coil seat mount same as OE
GS59-574 - Twin Tube, fixed mount (not adjustable), long travel (22.63" extended length), use with 2" coil to get 3" lift (coil seat height is 13mm higher than OE, resulting in 1" of lift). Using this with a 3" length coil would give 4", so not recommended. Diff drop kit is required to run these, as CV's will bind at full down travel due to the extended length.

Rear Shock Options
GS59-701 - Twin Tube, suits 0-2" lift. 605mm extended, 362mm compressed
GS59-705 - Twin Tube, suits 0-2" lift, softer valving for empty rear ends. 590mm extended, 355mm compressed
GS59-575 - Twin Tube, Long Travel, suits 3" lift (3" bump stop spacers recommended so shocks don't bottom out). 730mm extended, 425mm compressed.

Diff Drop Kit
DD59-527K - required with 3" lift, could also be used for 2" to 2.5" lifts if desired to correct CV angle

Adjustable Panhard Rod
PR59-1423 - Rear adjustable panhard rod, realigns rear axle back to center when lifted 3"+
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LWY185U

Adjustable Rear Control Arms
Rear Lower Adjustable Control Arms - WA59-520K - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0767M9SMN
Rear Upper Adjustable Control Arms - WA59-522K - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07667QXNJ

Front sway bar relocation kit (only for non-KDSS vehicles)
Gains clearance around bigger/thicker front struts and coils, if needed, as well as helps correct sway bar operating angle with lifts over 2". SE59-524

Rear sway bar extended length end links
Comes with 2 length rods to suit any length of lift up to 4". Uses factory style ball joint ends, gold zinc plated. SE59-529 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07666KW6C

Front UCA's
Front UCA Set with Senkei 555 Ball joints - UCA59-002K - Pair of replacement upper control arms to fix alignment issues with 2.5"+ lift heights. Use OE type rubber bushes on the frame end, and replaceable high angle ball joint on the wheel side. 38mm OD tube, 5mm wall thickness (0.2") HSLA steel. Fixed caster of 3 degrees built in.

Front Strut Top Caps/Hats
New upper caps - don't waste time pulling apart your old strut assembly just to get the cap off, buy new. Or better yet, we can assemble the units before shipping so you can install at home faster. Each cap is $40 and assembly is $30 each, so $140 in addition to a kit to have it come to you ready to bolt in.

All the coils listed are $175 per pair, except the long travel variable rate coils, those are $205 per pair
All the 0-2" struts listed are $125 each
Long travel struts are $145 each
All the 0-2" shocks listed are $95 each
Long travel rear shocks are $115 each
The diff drop kit is $45
Rear panhard rod is $225
Front UCA's - $550
Rear UCA's, $215
Rear LCA's, $235

We stock these parts in Miami, but if we were to run out, or have to make a special order, or custom make some coils, they would ship from Queensland, Australia.

What we get the most demand/requests from customers is our 3" front and 2" rear (leveling the vehicle), or 3" front and 3" rear progressive/variable rate coils with long travel struts and shocks. This will give the most travel and flex with just a few extra components needed. We also have options for 3/3", 2/2", 2/1", 2.5/1.5", or whatever lift height options you want to run. Lately, 2" front and 1" rear is very common (300 and 599 coils).

Added 8/29/17: Here is an album I just created trying to collectively gather all the photos I can of installed Dobinsons products. I'm showing the part numbers used and lift height gained, where possible.

Added 10/4/17: Front UCA's, Rear upper and lower adjustable trailing arms, rear sway bar end links, and front sway bar relocation kit are now all in stock.

The front can handle 3" of lift, but it's not recommended on the rear. It's too much for the KDSS system, and most likely it would create a heavy lean unless you made custom drop brackets for the sway bar system

hmm, what about progressive coils for KDSS?
I was interested in C59-677V / C59-701V but I've also got KDSS.
I'm currently on OME mediums but they are sagging quite a bit from the original 3" or so lift. Currently I'm also experiencing lean on the driver side rear.

Yes, you'll get a lean with 3" of lift. It's just too much. You can try and push it out by adjusting the KDSS system, but I don't think you'll get it even.

I just don't recommend 3" lifted rear coils on a KDSS system.
