Dobinsons 5th Gen T4R Suspension options - from Exit Offroad

I have them along with 302 springs sitting in my basement that I need to put on. I'm lifted 2" in the rear so hoping these set 1" longer will help to align my sway bar similar to stock again.

That should be perfect. I dont mind going a bit longer if needed, but I dont want any risk of contact with the lower arm that runs directly beneath.

Looks like the adjustable links I ordered will deliver today!

I have been doing several small suspension upgrades as a project. The new bumpstops and sway bar bushings are installed. Hopefully by middle of next week the links and a panhard correction kit will be on there as well.

Anyone else running these adjustable sway bar links? Any advice on length adjustment? I am planning to set them an inch longer than stock. 3” OME lift.

I believe you want to adjust the links so the bar is parallel with the ground.

Been a lurker for quite some time now and finally finished with suspension and wheels. Phase2 in the works... stay tuned. Thanks to mike for the help with coil setting me up with a great lift. It’s perfect for what I’m going for. Going to ride these 265’s until I need to go up a size. Need alignment done will make appointment soon.

Lift Height: 2.5Front/ 2Rear
Shocks: Bilstein 5100 set at 0
UCA: JBA High Caster
Wheels: Stealth Custom Series F5 17x8.5 -10

First time poster after two and a half years of reading. Just to get this out of the way, yes I know how to use the search function, yes I've read through thousands of pages of this forum. I currently live in Europe, my 2016 TRDP is in storage back in Florida. Looks like I'm finally moving home in about a month. The stock Nitto's are finally ready to replace (40k on them since I bought the truck new)

This has been and will continue to be my DD.

Quick rundown of minimal mods and what I'm looking at:

Looking at doing the Falken WP AT3w's in 285x70 (117t load)

Currently have Spidertraxx 1.25" spacers.

Have been eyeing the Toytec TRDP kit since I bought the truck 3 years ago, but after much more reading and time to decide since being away from it for the last year I'm curious about a different set up, and a combination I haven't seen mentioned too often. I don't love the idea of the 2" spacer in the front (toytec) but I still want 2" of lift in front over stock, and about 1.5" in the back.

I like the IDEA of combining Dobinson's TRDP front coil for 1" and so the question for you guys: could I combine that with a 1" spacer up front to achieve my 2"? Kind of a happy medium between 2" front spring (which it sounds like Dobinsons has decided isn't a great idea on the stock Pro sus) and a 2" front spacer.

Also, is the wheeler t13 rear spring a good match for the front and what I will be doing with this truck? disclosure: no f/r bumpers, likely will never have them. No winch either. What do I haul? Hunting gear, bikes, labradors, luggage and of course: groceries. And usually only a combination of 2 or less of those at a time. Also, the occasional harvested deer on a hitch mount rack but that's 1-2 days a year.

Sorry for the intro post, wanted to get as many of the details out of the way so I didn't have people replying "we need more information in order to help you"

Thanks everyone.

As a follow up, would the C59-599 from Dobinsons be something to consider as well for a nearly level stance (rocker panels to the horizon, not wheel arches) or will it squat too much with 2" of lift up front if I do put a few hundred pounds in the back/have two passengers in back seat (no third row seats, obv)

I read page one where Mike has the description of this rear spring as "C59-599 - Stock rear end, 1.0"-1.25" lift (keeps rear end low, allowing to help level the vehicle rake with 2" front lift). 390/390mm, 17mm wire, 220LB"

My question stems from the fact that since a TRDP already has 1" of front lift built in over stock non pro models, would it be about 1" too low in the rear when combined with a vehicle that would have essentially 3" of front lift (2" of lift + 1" factory built in) over a stock non pro 4r?

Big shout out to Dobinsons Mike for great customer service. Ordered front coils and struts, UCAs, rear springs and struts. Everything except the UCAs were shipped out the same day I made the order. I was told the UCAs were going to be shipped by the end of the month but was contacted about a week later and was told he had some UCAs aired in and had it shipped to me way earlier. I have install scheduled for Friday. Thanks Mike for working with me to get the components for my needs.

Need recommendation

I am running C59-300/GS59-574 and c59-325/GS59-705. I am planning to add a front bumper with a winch, rear bumper with a tire carrier, rock sliders and full body skids.

Will my current set up needs to be replace to handle the added weight or can I drive with them for a while since Toyota installed these combinations. If I need to get them replaced, which models are recommended?

I want to achieve at least 3.5" front and 3" rear after all of the bumpers and accessories are installed. What parts do I need to buy? Also, for the rear, since the lift will be at 3", what other parts will I need such as sway bars etc...?

Your link to the album that shows your lifts seems to be broken, at least on mobile. Just shows me all sorts of albums now.

I just installed 352 heavy coils on Bilstein 5100 using the lowest setting. With my bumper and winch, it settled more than I’d like and I’m wondering what I can do to achieve the 2.5” lift again.

You could add preload with those struts, but they don't like strong coils with too much preload very much, so I wouldn't go any more than 1 clip higher.

What type of potential issues can I run into if I preload it 1 clip higher? I also played with the idea of using a top hat spacer, but haven't looked thoroughly into it.

Seach "broken bilstein" in google images to get an idea of what can happen. More preload also can change the feel of the ride, but 1 clip shouldn't make much difference except to add height.

Now I'm worried. Would love to replace my current setup with the new MRR that's set to release soon, but don't know how long that'll be. My next budget friendly option would be to keep the 352 coils and replace the Bilstein 5100 fronts with a pair of Dobinson struts. I see on the Dobinson website there are two offerings: front struts and long travel front struts.

Which application is suitable in my application? Do the struts themselves provide any time of lift? Or will I be back to square one?

Sorry, didn't mean to worry you, but it can happen. I think more often than not it's when they add too much preload with non-stock coils (stronger) and then it just can't handle the force at the bottom of the strut.

Yeah, GS59-700 is our standard strut that doesn't provide any extra lift.
GS59-574 long travel struts add 1" of lift height to what you have now with the same coils, and also more travel to compensate for the taller coil seat.

If I go with the 574 long travel struts paired with the 352 coils, what do you think the hub to fender measurement will be? I was originally at 22.5 - 23 inches with the Bilstein 5100 at the highest setting on stock coils. Now it's more like 21.5 - 22 inches with the 5100 on the lowest setting with the 352 coils.

1" taller than what you have now

1" taller than what you have now

Thank you. That should put me at around 23 - 23.5" hub to fender, which from my research is acceptable for CV angles.

Does anyone here have this exact setup? Dobinsons 574 long travel strusts with 352 heavy coils? Can you post pictures and share your hub to fender measurements please?

Dobinsons Mike. I like the IDEA of combining Dobinson's TRDP front coil for 1" up front with a 1" front spacer to achieve 2" of total lift on my TRD pro. Have you had any customers do this? Kind of a happy medium between 2" front spring (which it sounds like Dobinsons has decided isn't a great idea on the stock Pro sus) and a 2" front spacer (like in the toytec kit) and I don't really want to do that.

Also, which rear spring would be the best to lift the rear and get things close to level/very slight front rake that doesn't carry too much weight in the back? I see you have a few different options.
