Dobinsons 5th Gen T4R Suspension options - from Exit Offroad

Do the colors in this setup remind anyone else of Saved by the Bell or is it just me?

Yeah, that 90's teal color. Hahhaa

Most people reference these a lot too...

I think I'm going to have to back off that site. They're pushing down the little man with some crazy rules they have. I've got the store switched off right now until we sort out a few things with Amazon

Look here: Front Page - Dobinsons Direct

Still adding stuff to it daily. Use the coupon code in my signature to save 5% too.

Email me if there's something else you need that you don't see or can't find.

Can you PM me coupon code?

Just installed new bumpstops and decided to take a short trip over the weekend. Have to say Im now pleased with my 705s in the rear. They were generally good but I had issues with the valving/dampening when coming off taller rock faces. Must have been hitting the bump stops as the new bumpstops have made them feel much better. Still interesting in trying the 701s or IMS regular-valved rears but need to figure out tires first.

I did get to drive more spiritedly (35-40mph) on the flatter less rocky but still lots of corrugations areas and found the shock bodies reached about 140-150F after 1.5 miles or so. Dampening was still good so pretty impressed! Might have been less hot if I had aired down to 22-24psi. Drove to the Racetrack la PLaya in Death Valley at around 45-50mph and the shocks were cooler then. I don't think I'll ever need 2.5 Resis for what I do.

what's the difference?

I know for me there was WAY less bump steer on and off road. That was enough for me to justify the purchase.

+1 as well as it feels like less "tension" in the steering due to limits on the stock UCA's.

Hard to describe the feeling but realized no matter how good a lifted vehicle rides on OEM UCA's - it rides better with ones that allow OEM alignment specs. Was the case on my Tacoma and F150 I lifted.

Glad I spent the cash, it also gave more room between the tire and UCA.

I have a 5th Gen TP that I am looking to put a small lift on. My brother suggested Dobinson, so here I am. Thinking of only going up to 2.5" for right now. I only have some Shrockworks sliders on the way in terms of added weight. I'd like to get the truck level if possible. Also, I think I am going to stick with stock size tires as this is also my daily right now, but am looking into getting it off road more often (possible trip in the Carolina's coming up soon).
Please let me know your thoughts Mike.
Thank you in advance.

Hey man. Ok, so 2.5" up front is the C59-302 coils with stock weight. If you want it dead level, then go with 1" in the rear with C59-599, but don't do that if you'll be loading up often because you'll get reverse rake. Most would do 1.5" rear lift with C59-505 to match the 2.5" front height.

You can see my gallery of what lift heights look like installed here: Gallery - Toyota 5th Gen 4Runner (2010-2020) | Exit Offroad

Spoke with Mike (thanks Mike!) and thinking about doing a 2" front and 1" rear lift. Not planning on bumpers or skids, already have sliders.
  • C59-300 front coils
  • C59-599 rear coils

I'm *this close* to ordering but curious: did anyone that went with a "mild" lift eventually regret not going a bit bigger?

l'm curious as well, looking at the same lift as you paired with the GS59-700 front struts & GS59-705 rear shocks. I only have RSG sliders & TRD front skid.

I don't think it's too common for people to wish they went bigger unless they wanted to put a bigger tire on. Most people that want to stay with a stock-ish size tire would do that smaller lift height.

On the other hand, some people that went with more lift then felt the need to upgrade tires sooner than they wanted to "fill up the wheel wells more".

Here's the 2" front and 1" rear installed

Thanks Mike for the quick response and photo. If those are stock size tires in the photo, then that lift will be perfect for me. I'm on stock
size AT3W Wildpeaks and don't ever plan to go bigger. I think you just sealed the deal for me. Will pm you for T4R members discount code.
Thanks again.

Yes those are stock.

The current deal of free strut mounts and free assembly is a much bigger discount this month than the forum member deal, and they can't be combined. You can order here and get the May deal right there on the site.
