Dobinsons 5th Gen T4R Suspension options - from Exit Offroad

Logged a good amount of break-in miles on my setup so far. (Specs posted in post 2953)

Loving the ride quality with winch/bumper up front. Not much constant weight in the rear yet but even “unloaded”, it’s very comfy.

Going to be slinging some BFG KO2’s on it soon.

The rear LT coils are 3" of lift only, and to level out a vehicle, you have to lift the rear less than the front, which isn't really an option with 3" of rear lift.

3" front and rear looks pretty good on these and doesn't look really raked out in my opinion.

Only the rear coils that end in a V are long travel rears (the non-V coils can't be used with LT), and with the weight you've got, the C59-675V would be what I'd suggest, along with LT shocks, brake lines, bumps, upper and lower trailing arms, and panhard rod. Stock upper and lower arms will limit articulation and you won't have the full travel without changing them.

For the front, C59-302 on the IMS59-50574 struts is the most common setup to set to 3" up front with minimal weight.

Thank you so much for the info!

Crikeymike I tried PMing you but I dont know if it went thru. checked my sent messages but it wasnt showing up so:

I took your advice years ago for rear coils C59-725 and these were great all these years.

Now I got some weight added to the rear, not much though.
I have a drawer system (120lbs) + spare E rated 285/70 (60+ lbs) + cooler, tools, etc...
I also bring my 2 kids with me so I got some weight going on in the rear.

Could you recommend which Dobinsons rear springs to go with?
I'm assuming the C59-327 or even C59-329?
I'm on kings ext w/adj all around.

Hoping you have these in stock?

Thanks for your help.

Hey bud,

With that sort of weight, the C59-327 is all you'd need. They've been sold out for 2 months and due at the end of the month.

:) First trail ride was a success. Got some really nice flex out of the rear. Also the front with proper weight added was uber comfy. Rear was a bit chattery over corrugations, but once we add a couple hundred more lbs/kg, it’ll be golden.

Is there going to be a Black Friday sale this year? Hoping to upgrade to IMS sometime in the near future.
There normally is one each year, but with the inbound ocean shipments getting so jacked up, I'm not sure there will be one this year. When stock is hard to get, it's hard to put it up on sale.

Best thing to do is wait and see and keep checking regularly on my website home page at Exit Offroad are the Dobinsons Suspension Experts in the USA as it will be announced there whenever the details are released (if there is one)

Definitely understood. Just curious. Already got your paged bookmarked haha. Thanks for the reply!

Hi Mike,

I'm interested in a mild lift for my KDSS equipped '21 ORP. The factory rake on mine seems pretty extreme, as in 2.5 inches higher in the rear. For this reason I'm considering just going with C300 front springs and IMS700 struts and see where I end up front to back. I figure I can always work on the rear later if I don't like the stance. Do you have any customers who have done this? If I went this route, would I need to do anything to avoid a leaning situation? The truck is pretty even side to side in stock form.

Hey man. That would work if you totally want to level it. The only issue I could foresee is if you load up the rear, you'll end up with negative rake. I can't think of anyone that has specifically done this, but I know some have with the C59-300 up front only.

You'd have to see if there's a lean after and correct it if necessary, but I doubt there would be if you don't lift the rear.

2.5" of rake sounds pretty extreme. Is there any added weight on the front bringing it down?

No additional weight, and the 2.5 difference has been consistent since I brought it home 4000 miles ago. Do you have the C59-300s and IMS 700s in stock?

Hi mike! Back in may I ordered some coils. I got the c59-302 fronts and c59-325 rears for my 2012 4Runner non-Kdss. I’m also pairing those with bilstein 5100’s and dirt king UCA. I wanted the extra bit of lift, But In order to get it to sit level I had to put the front bilsteins at the highest setting. which meant compressing the front springs quite a bit. The problem is now it rides super stiff and bounces and jerks hitting any bumps on the freeway, which makes it a little sketchy sometimes. I don’t have much weight for add-ons besides a roof rack and rock sliders. My question is, Did I get the correct springs for wanting a more comfortable but off-road capable ride? If not what springs would you recommend to get the same ride height but a more comfortable and safer feeling ride. I was thinking maybe if I went with a 3” front spring and lowered the front bilstein setting it would give me the height and the spring travel I want.

You'd be better off running those 302s at the 1st clip up for 3" then going to a 1" rear coil, the C59-599s. To remove rake completely, the rear has to be lifted 2" less than the front.

5100s shouldn't be used with lifted coils any more than the first clip up. It can damage the strut as well as take away all down travel

I'm looking into updating my Dobinson springs and was looking for some recommendations.

I'm currently running the MRR suspension on my 5th gen, with C59-302 springs (front) and C59-325 (rear). I've added a considerable amount of weight to both ends and will be needing something heavier duty.

On the front end, I have a c4 bumper with high clearance wings and warn winch (182 lbs)

On the rear, I've got a Rigd ultraswing + spare wheel (roughly 115 lbs).

I'm also going to be running a 150 lb RTT pretty much full time as well.

Would C59-352 springs be good for the front?

Someone also recommended Dobinsons 677v for the rear.

What are your thoughts?

Currently running Bilstein 5100s on stock springs, looking to get to about 3" lift on the front, 2"+ on the back.

No winch or extra weight on the front. Tire carrier on the back, no full bumper.

Can you recommend which springs to order? Looking for red.

Yes, the 352 springs would be ideal and you can set at any height from 2-3".

In the back, if you're looking for a full 3" then the 677Vs would also be the best with the weight you'll add on there.

3" up front with stock weight will be the C59-314 springs with the struts set to the lowest clip.

In the back with only a tire carrier, the C59-325 will do the trick.

Both of those are due approximately mid November.
