Dobinsons Suspension - 4th Gen Options

I have about 2k miles on my Dobinson's kit. It has started to settle and I am really happy with the results. I went with OME stuff on previous runner (3rd gen) and it was too harsh. The Dobinson stuff is slightly softer and just perfect in my opinion. Here is my 07 V8 sport on 265/70's.


I ordered C59-314 front springs with GS59-221 shocks. For the rear I went with C59-325 springs with the GS59-637 shocks.View attachment 320936

That looks pretty darn level in that shot - is it? I'm looking at this stuff now and was thinking about going with the c59-302 springs, gs59-221 shocks up front and the c59-505 springs, gs59-637 shocks out back, with the goal of having it leveled out. My goal is to run 255/75/17's, so don't really need that much lift...

I'll eventually probably do a budbuilt hidden mount winch, but that's probably the only weight I'll be adding to the front, but that might be a while off....

Based on my experience you may end up a little high in the rear.

Got mine in this week. In hindsight, I might have gone slightly lower in the rear. Have to see how it sits when I'm loaded for camping.

C59-300 - V6 - Stock front end load, 2" lift. 385/385mm, 17mm wire,

C59-505 - Stock rear end load, 1.5" lift. 405/405mm, 17mm wire,
GS59-637

It has a little rake but not as much as it did from the factory. I do have about 60lbs of drawers and tools in the back. With my Yakima bike rack (40lbs) and my mtn bike hanging off the back it is perfect, just barely any rake.

If you are putting more weight in the front and don't want any rake I'd go one coil lighter in the rear.

Just ordered my kit today! They 707s are on backorder and should be here in about two weeks! Can’t wait till it gets here. I went 2.5” front and 2” in the back.

Went 302s in front and 325s in back
221s in front and 707s in back

I have a stock 2009 4Runner trail edition in pearl white

Got mine installed yesterday—I was nervous about doing it myself because I usually don’t dabble in things this serious. I used a mix of three guides from here and a buddy (who has also never done suspension before) and I finished it up in 4.5 hours. Wayyyyy easy and not one thing gave us much issue. I’m sure it helped my truck has always been in the south so there was no rust on any of it, and the preassembled front struts helped tremendously too. The teal and yellow looks so good—I’m thrilled beyond belief with this setup, the ride is so nice on the road—can’t wait to go out and see how it does on some trails!

300 coils and 221 struts on the front with 505 coils/637 shocks rear. Should be about 2” lift in the front and 1.5” in the rear. I like to think of it as OEM +. Next up are wheels and tires—going to try to fit 275s

That looks perfect! That’s what I want for my ‘05.

The process would be pretty much the same. You are replacing suspension components. They all bolt on the same, brand really doesn't matter.

I have a 2005 limited v6 I have already purchased my front end c59-302with gs59-221 but now I need the rear. so many options, I am thinking c59-325 with gs59-705 Has any one tried this setup or have any advice. I have no extra weight on truck. thanks in advance for any input.

C59-505 are the most commonly matched rear coils to the 302 fronts if there's no rear weight, and with those GS59-705 shocks too. But to maintain some more rake, and/or to be able to add more weight to the rear without it squatting too much, C59-325 is a good option.

You can see the specs in the first post. They're exactly the same spring rate, just different heights. Only difference would be 1/2". Go with the 505's.

i have the 2.5”/1.5” lift setup with 255/80/17 on 5th gen trail wheels and did not have to do the bmc. I did get a lot of rubbing once i put 1.25” spacers on so i did the bmc after that. Stock wheels you should not have any problems.

How much was your "complete kit" and did you get UCA's or keep stock? I priced what you had at DobinsonsDirect and total came out to $1620 before tax and before adding the option of them building the front shocks so I don't kill myself with the coil compressor.

We finally received our Front Top Mount Strut Spacers into stock this week.

PS59-4030 - Single 1/4" machine alloy strut spacer, anodized black, suits almost all Toyota's from the 90's to current. Drilled with 2 bolt patterns to fit multiple vehicles. 4Runner 3rd, 4th, and 5th Gen. All Tacoma's 1998 to 2019. All GX470/460. All FJ Cruisers. Can be used to correct a vehicle lean if one exists, or to add one to both sides to add 1/2" lift.

Noticed in another thread that you went went the 300's up front and the 325's out back...curious, do you have the 5100's up front set at 0 lift, or did you move the clip up to gain some extra lift?
