I run Techstream on Windows 10 and have no issues. Just some quick google searching and there was ample instructions on getting it running. I run a Windows 10 VM on my Mac, and run Techstream under that.
Does anybody use Carista?

Not everyone owns a laptop, or is tech-savvy enough to figure out how to do what you describe. I know I don't, and I'm not.
I do have a smartphone, however.

In my case it would have been ok to use a Smartphone. The issue was I needed to do something outside of the application. For example I needed to code a new remote and key, so I ended up with Techstream anyways, which made Carista redundant. I was still under trial so I did not need to pay for the software beyond the 30 days. I actually have a Carista dongle if anyone would like to buy it just make me a reasonable offer and its yours.
Interesting info here. I have an older laptop with windows XP on it as well as a Microsoft Surface Pro 4 with windows 10. What hardware/software would I need in order to run Techstream from either of these devices? Would love to program my windows to roll down with the remote...

I don't know about the Surface, but to run Techsteam I just use vanilla Windows 10, Techstream and a basic ODB cable like this one:

As long as I cancel the trial subscription in a couple days, Carista allowed me, for free, to do the following easily...
1) Disable Seat Belt chime for passenger (I have a dogs who decide to ride shotgun whenever it pleases them). Red light on dash still comes on, which I don't mind at all.
2) Door windows (not rear window, and no sunroof installed to test), roll down with press then press-hold on unlock key.
3) Door windows (not rear window) roll up and down with drivers side door lock and unlock key movement.
Those mods alone are worth the price of the app, and with the free trial, I'll fix my 2012 Prius also.
For free.
PS The app is slow as hell to connect, identify, etc etc. Still worth it for FREE. Heck, it's still worth it for a couple of Andrew Jacksons if you buy into the app.

I got their OBDII dongle which gives you the free app. Even if you return it afterwards and are charged shipping by Amazon, it's totally worth it to do the things described above. I tweaked my 4R, my wife's RAV4 (5 blinks instead of 3 on the one-tap turn signal!), and a buddy's 4R.

I had my dealership turn off the seatbelt chime, change the window roll down/key fob option, and turn off eco mode via tech stream. Cost me like $65 though.
Didn't work on my 2016 SR5. Not sure how "long" to hold it but after about 30-seconds I gave up...

Yeah for $12 it was worth the time save for me not having to go to the dealer and try to explain what I wanted. I already had a dongle from Amazon for my Dash Command App.
Driver and Passenger ding dongs now off, hold the key to lock and close my windows / sunroof, drop them now using the key fob too. Vehicle speed sensors set to lock doors at speed, puddle lights on for 30 seconds, and set my lock 'beep' volume a tad lower.
Good App - no complaints, would recommend.

Settings are saved when you unplug, so you can change your settings and toss it in the trash if you want and everything will be how you like it. I just leave mine plugged in though, I don’t have anything else to plug in and I know where it is when I need it.

I received the Beta from Carista. on my Land Cruiser I can even reprogram the TPMS
(beta only)for switching out my summer/winter wheels, which I can't do on the fake usb with techstream.
Unfortunately the TPMS programming is not an option for the 4R, at least last time I checked.

I check with them occasionally to see if it works for reprogramming how the rear window up function links with the lock function (my usual routine is to walk up to the vehicle, unlock the doors with the remote, roll down the rear window, put my groceries in, roll it back up and then walk around and grab the handle of the locked door and pull it like a fool because rolling the rear window up automatically locked the doors), but so far no dice. I did get the laptop cable but could never get Techstream to work on Windows 10. Maybe I will try again.

Same: simple and straight forward to use. Still have OBD2 Scanner if there is need of it from anyone on here.

Get Torque Pro for it and monitor your transmission temps.
