Does anyone know if and how the rear Spoiler can be removed?

Hi I just bought my first 2008 4-Runner Sport Edition a few days ago, and first time poster to this forum.

I really do not like how the "rear spoiler" looks on the vehicle, and was wondering if it is possible to remove the spoiler???

I know there is a light on the spoiler, so it may not be possible, but the other models do not come with the spoiler so I am hoping it would not be too difficult.

Has anyone tried to do this? Any advice or feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Yes it can be removed. But, you will have some holes left over. That means filler, paint, finishing clearcoat, etc. The spoiler has the center light on it so you might have to have a shop put that back on, possible new drilling holes...
Long story short, its gonna cost ya!
I'm not sure if you could do it yourself. You mentioned you were looking at or had a new 08 model. You sure you can't order one without the spoiler? It's still optional equipment (the dealer likes to throw it on) so maybe you can find one without it.

I considered the same on my 07' until I concluded the best way to do this is to swap tailgates.
Too much money. You'll have to live with the spoiler like I am.
You could post a swap ad in the classifieds here.
