Does oemvalue ever anser their email? Questions about nav unit...

I have sent this place three different emails from different addresses, asking a couple different questions and never recieved a response. What is with this place? Seems very shady. If they don't know, at least they can reply with "I don't know".


Maybe someone here knows the answer to these questions:

I just want to know if the 2006 nav unit they sell matches the amber colored lights of our dashboard? I have seen some pics where the LED's are green?

Also, 2006 4Runners now have an AUX jack in the center console. Will we still be able to use this jack, or are these nav units they sell not compatable?

I've asked similar question on this AND their forum.

The units they sells are NOT the actual 4Runner units. They sell the Camry or other similar units (not the Sienna either).

The lighting WILL NOT match our 4Runners, and neither will the features.

OEMValue has made the excuse in the past that the units they sell are superior to the 4Runner units. This might have been true in the past but that is no longer the case. The 2006 4Runner units are THE BEST ones currently offered by Toyota.

OEMValue has stated that they do not currently, nor do they plan to carry the actual 4Runner units. :bash:

BUY THE 2006 NAV

I recently bought the Solara navigation for my 2003 LE 4Runner. The lights will not match the amber in your car. The steering remotes work fine but it took the tech several hours to make everything work well. The biggest problem is that the Solara navigations are smaller than the 4Runner ones so there is a space all around the unit where you can actually see into the dash unit. I don't mind the different coloring as it doesn't look that bad actually and the space is not THAT big. IT came with the 5.1 version so the actual Nav system has been amazing. You should first of all make sure you have the synthesis sound system which will make installation a lot easier. Also the 2006 Nav units are by far superior as stated above, go with that plus they fit factory style. The guy that runs OEM, Troy Krzyston, is definitely shady but you get your unit in 2 days, packaged nicely and it works perfectly well.

So if it fits factory style does that mean it doesn't have the space around the sides? Or it does, but the mounting brackets hold it properly?

I was trying to decide between this and the AVN5435. I was thinking that the oemvalue unit would be better because it would match the dash, bluetooth would be integrated, and it would be a perfect fit. But now it looks like all of the above are not true...

From what others have said, the '06 4Runner nav units come in 2 pieces and are $3,000+ from the dealer. But the '06 nav units for the Camry & Solara are much cheaper, but have the problems as mentioned above.

The 2005 and 2006 4Runner NAV units are ONE PIECE.

The 2006 4Runner NAV unit has the following new features over the older ones:

- a built-in 4 disk CD changer.
- MP3, WMA capability.
- Bluetooth.
- Voice Activated Phone dialing & Navigation commands.
- IPOD interface.

Once again, the units that OEMValue sells are not the actual 4Runner units. They sell the Camry or Solara units which do not have all of these features, nor do they fit in the dash perfectly.

Snap315, any idea if it's plug and play? Obviously, the steering wheels controls won't be there, but, I'm wondering about the other stuff. The price is steep, but I would expect that to come down eventually.

I have the Solara NAV installed on my system and there is no space.. it is exactly the size of the Toyota radio that came with my 4Runner. (and I changed the leds to match the orange... now it is a perfect match.

How in the hell??? Can you post a picture so I can see? Did a frame come with it because I purchased mine from OEM and all I got was the HU and 2 wires.

and you changed the Led lights, jeez. Did you do that yourself or did you have someone else do it? Hey I appreciate you posting the pic though. I'll post what I have and maybe you can tell me what I can do to fix it.

I did it all myself. There are a few of us on the forum who did the first installs and went as far as changing the LEDs... not as difficult as you think, but you have to really want orange. Everything we did is documented on this website.

FYI - Troy @ OEM Value did not originally markethis systems for 4Runners (when i first contacted him he said he had no idea if they would work on a 4Runner).. we worked with him because we wanted NAV and he seemed like the only guys that might be able to help us. He sent us the units and we figured out how to make it work. Troy now offers the units for 4Runners because we were successful at doing the installs. On our cases we got Nav (and in the begining finding a 4Runner with nav was almost impossible) and we even ended up with a better unit than the originial (2003) 4Runner nav (Solara supported XM and had the new firmware... 4Runner NAV did not.) So we are very thankful of Troys dedication to work with us on this. At one point he even shipped me two NAVs (even though i had only paid for one) to help me figure out the whole JBL hurdle. If you want and easy no-work FACTORY nav.. then buy a new 2006 4Runner Limited for $40k with the NAV unit. If you have a 4Runner and you love it but you want NAV... well then Troys Camery/Solara NAVs are a very reasonable way of going.. but you do have to be willing to do a little work (not much for the basic install... or a lot (if you want the camera, orange LEDs, XM, ect.)) For all of us who did this a few years ago it was a total blast.. but I think it is safe to say that we really love our trucks and we loved working (ripping them apart!) on them. My NAV install is far better than the Toyota NAV that was offered in 2003... and it looks VERY "factory" so i am happy.

Here is a photo that shows the NAV unit installed without gaps. (I just stole this from the old thread.. didn;t have time to get my camera out last night... but my install is the same.

I think you guys are having the following issue: The NAV uses a different radio surround piece. those of us with early 2003 (and maybe others) happen to get a radio that also required the same surround.. so we can add nav with a perfect fit. If you have the "flush" radio (which I think is the only option today) then you would need to look up the parts# for a 4Runner with NAV. I think you need a new radio/dash surround (the big piece of plastic with vents) and a new clock/trip computer/ac control panel. There should be two part numbers for each.. one for 4Runners with NAC and one for 4runners w/out NAV. (I was lucky... my 4runner had the NAV panels from the factory because my radio has the same face panel size as the NAV.)

Did you have the JBL 6-disc unit before you installed the NAV? If so, the reason you have the space is because the 6-disc unit is bigger and has a different trim piece around it. The single-disc units are the same size as the NAV units and have the right trim piece. So just buy the trim piece for the single-disc players and that'll get rid of the gaps.
