Does the 3rz-fe have any common oil leaks?

I've had an oil leak ever since I bought my 4runner over a year ago, and now its becoming a more irritating issue now that I've fixed the larger ones. I always have oil pooling on my skid plate, its caused me unknowingly drive with low oil, the sump pan is always greasy, and the front of the engine had a centimeter layer of crudoil on it that actually noticeably impacted my engine temperature after I removed it.

I first thought that it was the bead of RTV sealant that held the sump pan onto the block, but a mechanic who specialized in Toyotas said that rarely leaks and is quite strong.

My next guess is the oil filter housing that has an oil cooler tacked on. Are there any common areas that leak on these engine?

Leaks I have addressed on my 3RZ:

Oil cooler gaskets
Oil pan gasket
Front main seal
Valve cover gasket

None were leaking badly but certainly seeping after 250k

the oil filter housing gasket/seals are quite easy and cheap to replace.

Finally found the oil leak. Its the oil pan gasket (which is just RTV), mine is leaking on the passenger side near the oil filter. The oil is oozing out and when I shined a black light on the seam, the thing was basically highlighted orange along the whole side (UV dye in oil).

Anyone know how many hours Toyota bills for the oil pan gasket? Doesn't seem very easy to reach.

I also believe the oil filter or its housing is leaking because there is always oil clinging to the bottom of the filter. Don't know which seal specifically is my issue, but it is likely leaking as well.

Have to pull the front diff which is a big job but doable like everything on a 3rd gen.

ProDemand (labor time guide website used by auto repair shops and extended vehicle warranty companies for labor times) only lists labor times for 2wd 4 cyl oil pan which is 3.1 hours. I would expect around 2 more hours to remove the front differential.

EDIT: Labor time for front differential housing removal is 7 hours.

Reviving this old thread because I noticed during my exhaust job that the leak is getting worse. Oil seems be leaking out the back of the oil pan too, and its beading and streaming down the front of my transmission.

I might dye the transmission fluid to make sure it isn't contributing to the mess, but the sump gasket that is chunking off does seem like it could be the sole contributor.

If just removing the front diff takes 7 hours on a 4wd then the gasket replacement must be 10+ hours. If I were to pull the front diff are there any other services that should be performed while its off?

Would removing the front diff need special tools or access to a lift?
